Redbank Workshops  first of 14 such locomotive movements to the west, 4147 sets off for a 5 day or so road journey.  Apparently the need to gain accreditation and the bureacratic war for each state should the locomotives be actually railed has meant they are being transported by road (at great cost no doubt).

I thought ARTC was created to remove precisely this constraint.  I thought it had been achieved also.

Maybe that was the purpose it was created, but equaly obviously it has failed.
The bureaucrats again have made things too difficult to work by creating red tape to justify their existence.

There's a new depot being constructed that these locos (as well as a few 2300's and a some D-8's) are going to be based at. I'm trying to find the name of the town - all I was told is that it's about 400km out from Perth. I'd like to do some research about the place before applying for a maintainer spot there.

They are heading to Geraldton, the QRN depot is at Narngulu, to be renamed Narngulu West as a new Narngulu West depot is under construction.

4147 & 4148 arrived at Narngulu last week:

There are also 7 DFZ locos ex 2300's based at the depot, contrary to some reports there are only 3 with rebuilt cabs
