Rail Express --> More ticketing options for VLine passengers

Minister for Public and Active Transport Gabrielle Williams announced that eTicketing would make taking a journey with VLine easier – giving passengers the option to display their tickets on their smartphone.

Available from Wednesday, 18 September, the new electronic ticketing option will conveniently provide passengers with a link to their ticket via SMS or email when they make a reservation for a long-distance train or scheduled coach service – rather than visiting a staffed station to buy a ticket or have one mailed by post.

The eTickets will be available on VLine scheduled coach services as well as the Albury, Ararat, Bairnsdale, Echuca, Maryborough, Shepparton, Swan Hill and Warrnambool train lines.

Passengers on a Victorian rail line have endured more than 400 days of replacement buses on all or part of the track since the beginning of last year, an analysis of disruption announcements shows.

The frequency of coach replacements on the Gippsland line has infuriated residents, who blame the state government's $100 billion Big Build program for interrupting their V/Line service 65 per cent of the time over the past 20 months. ...

The disruptions on the Gippsland line have been constant for around the last 10 years or so.  Every time I have been to Melbourne I have attempted to do a trip to Bairnsdale, only to be thwarted every time by closures.
