Corinda to Ipswich rail line closed for the weekend of 8/9 March - buses servicing passengers between railway stations ...... then Sunday afternoon 3-4 hours total blockage of Ipswich motorway outbound from brisbane at wacol due to a single truck accident. I suspect the buses would have been diverted back along the barely maintained and quite dangerous wacol station road.

Yep!  My daughter was around for lunch and heading back to Goodna they noticed the traffic backed up so headed around the back roads.  Again it demonstrates how precarious it all is.  The sooner there is some redundancy on the main line west (quadruplication?) the better off the community will be I think.

The upgrade of the Ipswich Highway from 2 lanes each way to 3 lanes each way is just going to lead to bigger conglomerates of gridlock I reckon!   :D

Completing the four rather than three tracks between Corinda and Darra with a third bidirectional track as far as Gooda as a first stage would have provided some relief
If the work on the lines required that the power be turned off why not haul electrics over the affected section by diesels, ventilation fans (not air conditioning) and lights and doors could operate for the 30 or so minutes off batteries the sets would be without overhead power wityh the batteries going back on charge when the car sets resumed normal operation under wires.
