I'm thinking a bit about this idea.

This could do what P88 does between the CBD and Indooroopilly but be a more 'rapid' style route.

So this would be:

Wooloongabba busway
Cultural Centre
King George Square busway
Roma Street busway
Wesley Hospital Auchenflower
Toowong
Indooroopilly
Mt Ommaney
All stops to Riverhills/Darra Station terminus.

This route would only stop at major centres listed above. Everything else in between it would skip past- even express stops. P88 would be removed between Indooroopilly and the City, possibly along with some other 4XX series routes.

I like the concept.

What I would prefer is that it provide a stop somewhere in Jindalee near where the 453 comes off the highway (which is difficult, but you'll see why in a sec) and terminate at Richlands.

That way, you:
- Kill the 460 and 461; and
- Kill all the Centenary services and limit them to feeder buses into Darra, Richlands, Mt Ommaney and Jindalee
- Can merge the 66 with the 109 and ensure you have a capacious service starting at the Gabba.

Run the 77 into UQ Lakes, merge the 111 and 160 and get rid of the 183 in the bargain to simplify the SEB corridor.

If you are going to do something like this, far better to run along Milton Rd & Western Freeway along the "green route" to Darra station.  IMO.

I think a revamp is in order but I had a different approach.  If you also created a "Western Busway" of sorts to Indooroopilly Shoppingtown and an interchange on top of Indooroopilly Station, my idea would work far better as well.

1. Truncate the 444 to the Kenmore Park n Ride.  Use this 444 and the P88 (re-routing to finish at Indro Train Station) to form your spine service to the City.
2. Replace the Moggill part of the 444 with a 440 BUZ that would go limited stops perhaps from Kenmore or at least Indro.
3. Truncate the 435 to Indro Station but double the frequency.  Retain and increase 436 frequency in peaks.
4. Re-route the 454 to turn off at Jindalee and travel via Endeavour St to Mt Ommaney then as normal and BUZ it.
5. Truncate the 453 to Indro and perhaps extend to Darra via the greenlink from Mt Ommaney
6. Introduce express stopping pattern trains from Richlands and remove the 461 rocket.

So that would allow the P88 and new 444BUZ to from a spine.  The 425, 430, 440BUZ, 454BUZ and 460 would run limited stops stopping at BBC (school terms only), Toowong and the Wesley.  With infrastructure, this would quicken up the trip.  Indooroopilly would become a major interchange hub with the 435, 453 & 468 feeders plus existing routes.  Extending some like the 415 to the railway station would also provide better interchange potential.

Yes, I am starting to think that a stronger network with more 'zing' to it will consist of FEWER routes but running at higher capacity and frequency.

This idea makes very good sense.  :)

I am hopeless at imagining this... I will have to draw a map...

Potential potential... maybe time to start drawing on a drawing board I think :-)

I'm sorry to say I am against points 1, 2 & 6.  3 is fine.  As for 4 & 5, Endeavour St (and presumably Yallambee Rd) has been previously proposed, although it wouldn't continue to the current 454 terminus.  Here's a link to the more full proposal: http://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=5480.0
There was an earlier thread but I can't find it.

The Routes 460,P461 current Passenger Numbers will not warrant them to be cut going to Forest Lake & Inala.
