What is the bus stop DDA program 2010/11?

TransLink is committed to making access to public transport easy.

We are undertaking a program of works to improve the accessibility of our bus stops for all members of the community to ensure they comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (1992) (Cth) and the Disability Standards for Accessible Public Transport (2002) (Cth).

We have set targets to make 55% of stops compliant by the end of 2012 and 100% compliant by the end of 2022.

The Program includes minor works at local bus stops across South East Queensland between April 2011 and June 2011.

Works to each stop will take place in two stages over a period of three days (depending on weather). The first step will involve auditing of your bus stop and the second step may involve minor construction works to the stop.
Why is it needed and what are the benefits?

We are committed to making access to public transport easy. The bus stop DDA program 2010/11 will:

    * help ensure we provide a high quality public transport network
    * assist us in meeting DSAPT compliance targets
    * improve passenger access across our network
    * make destinations more accessible.

How will this affect me?
Services

Bus services will not be affected by these works.
Traffic

We don't expect any traffic impacts while works take place.
Construction

Between April 2011 and June 2011, you may notice contractors at your local bus stop working on our behalf.

These works will include measuring and surveying to audit the bus stop, followed by minor construction works. These works should take around three days to complete (depending on weather).

Some bus stops may be moved up to five metres to ensure compliant disability access, however they will still be located within the bus zone.

All works will be completed during normal working hours. There may be some noise and dust, but we aim to minimise these impacts.

We apologise for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work to deliver public transport improvements that make travel easy, for all members of the community.
