Why'd you copy those posts into this thread??!!  It's marginally on topic in the 192 thread.

Quickly though, Boundary St, West End has service north of Vulture St (199).  I guess the theory is that the 192 covers Dornoch Tce, so everyone has a <=400m walk.  192 is all stops not pre paid, but the CityGlider is pre paid and limited stops.  May be grounds for a Boundary St service, all stops, non pre paid CityGlider (or 192BUZ to West End Ferry replacing CityGlider).  But if you want to talk some more, I suggest a new thread.

I am aware that West End has a service north of Vulture street. However, for approximately one kilometre of road there is no bus within walking distance along Boundary Street. This is a PT black hole. There is also no need for duplication of the CityGlider route- pre-paid and "all stops" are poor reasons to retain 192 duplicating the CityGlider, hardly anybody uses those 192 bus stops where there is already CityGlider, 192 is infrequent, and it is a complete waste of money to be running a duplicated service there. If pre-paid boarding is the issue, put in a ticket machine at every second CityGlider bus stop, Coles West End and the Ferry Terminal. These resources would be better used filling in the black hole on boundary street. Dornoch Tce is also included so no major loss of service there. The small portion on Dornoch Tce where service is lost is a very short walk (200 - 300m) from a BUZ 199 bus route.

Not quite correct.  The 192 on Dornoch Tce gives everyone a service within 400m or so.  It is a very inconvenient service, of course.  I'm not opposed to some sort of upgrade to this one.

100% agree!  The solution would be to give the 192 BUZ frequency and abolish the CityGlider.  But that won't happen because the CityGlider is incredibly political.  And also establishes some sacred tennets (sp?) such as all door boarding.

It is not good coverage and better coverage would be achieved by sending 192 directly down Boundary street where the 199 does not cover this area.

As you can see, it will be quite a walk.
While people walk to frequency, they will refuse to walk to infrequent services.
A boost of 192 could come about from the abolition of air-parcel service route 198 and the removal of 192 from Montague Road to Boundary Street.

While it would be nice to BUZ things, I think the extra services that come from route 198 abolition and re-allocation to an improved 192 would be a good start. Would be revenue neutral as well, so "we have no money" would NOT be an excuse in this case.

It is impossible to devise a situation where there are only winners and no losers. Failure to re-route 192 will mean a welfare-style low patronage service that does not add anything substantial to improved mobility in this area (because it duplicates an excellent service- CityGlider) while also using up precious funds.

Still with the referring to new routes by existing route numbers!

Plenty of money to BUZ things.  BUZ192 + no western CityGlider would be a cost saving!  It would actually go a fair way toward a BUZ196.

A new route for Boundary St south of Vulture St with the Montague Rd route(s) truncated to West End Ferry is something I am inclined to support quite strongly actually.

Where would this Boundary St route go from Dornoch Tce?  The river/Boundary St or turn along Dornoch Tce in either direction?  When the ferry comes back online, I'd suggest it should go there.
