Hello All,

I note that Landsborough to Nambour Rail Project information EIS appears to be back on line and available to the public on the website.
It also includes the drawings.  :-t

See link below for information.

Work is still required to identify train stabling options.  The report wording, as it stands, negates a Yandina option.

The relevant words are reproduced below:

-  The stabling yard is to be located within 1 km of Nambour station to minimise dead running time and fuel costs
-  The stabling yard should be located on a straight alignment of the track
-  Location and track configuration to minimise complex moves between the stabling and the terminating platform
-  The site must be accessible for maintenance and operating crews.

The report says three possible options were identified for stabling locations during the route identification process, but does not reveal their location.  It says a preferred option for stabling will be identified as part of the EIS and preliminary design process.

All of this confirms that the government is pushing ahead with train stabling options that specifically exclude Yandina.

50,000 PERSON 'CITY' ADDED TO SUNSHINE COAST

The state government has released its plans to shoehorn an extra 50,000 people into the Sunshine Coast – at Caloundra South, between Landsborough and Caloundra, with buildings (including residential unit blocks) 10 storeys high and a major shopping centre one hectare bigger than the largest shopping precinct on the coast ATM.  There will be 50,000 people, but 15,000 planned jobs.  The overflow of job seekers are likely to head to Brisbane from the busiest station on the SCL (Landsborough).

There is no firm commitment to a start on construction of the CAMCOS corridor, which runs through the site.  However, there is a requirement for public transport, presumably buses, to be provided upon completion of the 200th lot for the development. The developer is to provide, or subsidise, an interim public transport service for up to 5 years or until the fare box income exceeds 30% of running costs, whichever is sooner. This service is to provide a minimum of half hourly services in peak time and hourly services at other times from 6.00am to 9.00pm on weekdays and 8.00 am to 5.00pm on weekends.  It is not clear where the buses will run to and from, but presumably would be a shuttle service between Landsborough station and the Caloundra bus interchange -- running via one or 2 routes through CalSth.

What a pity that the Deputy Premier's promises, now reprudiated, for a spur CAMCOS rail corridor to run from Beerwah to Caloundra by 2016 now won't proceed, because there won't be any connection with the Coast Connect rapid bus transport network serving coastal suburbs of the Sunshine Coast -- Caloundra, Kawana, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and from there to Nambour.  It all sounded so sensible when the Connecting SEQ 2031 document had various modes connecting.  Now we get a bit of this and half of that and postponement of the other, including CAMCOS.

The state government has issued revised plans for the Coast Connect rapid bus service on the Sunshine Coast.  See here: http://www.coastconnect.com.au/attachments/map_book/Pdf_coastconnect_map_book_complete.pdf

If you live on the coast, expect the glossy brochure in your letterbox and the big posters at the local shopping centre, but don't expect construction anytime soon.  Continuation of the concept planning for rapid bus from Maroochydore to Noosa has disappeared from the radar.
