Withdrawal of Motorail Services

Motorail wagons currently utilised in the Motorail Operation of the Sunlander and Spirit of the Outback (S.O.B.) Services, will be withdrawn from services departing from April 1st 2011 due to operational requirements.

Motorail will continue to operate on the Sunlander for travel up until the 31st March 2011 inclusive.

Bookings for motorail on the Sunlander services for travel from 1st April 2011 will not be accepted until further notice.

Bookings for motorail on the Spirit of the Outback services for travel from 1st April 2011 will not be accepted until further notice.

Customers with pre-existing bookings on our Motorail services should contact Queensland Rail on 1800 TRAINS (872467) for information on options available to them.

Any one know what the real reason is for the withdrawal of motorail services?  Another rail service bites the dust ...

Suspension of Motorail Services

Motorail wagons currently utilised in the Motorail Operation of the Sunlander and Spirit of the Outback (SOB) services, will be suspended from services departing from April 1st 2011 due to engineering modifications.

Motorail will continue to operate on The Sunlander for travel up until the 31st March 2011 inclusive.

    * Bookings for Motorail on The Sunlander services for travel from 1st April 2011 will not be accepted until further notice.
    * Bookings for Motorail on the Spirit of the Outback services for travel from 1st April 2011 will not be accepted until further notice

Customers with pre-existing bookings on our Motorail services should contact Queensland Rail on 1800 TRAINS (872 467) for information.

Queensland Rail apologies for any inconvenience caused to customers.

Gee, QR makes it tough for itself.  Why doesn't it say 'temporarily suspended' to indicate that the suspension is not forever.  It would have been helpful had the announcement said something along the lines of 'the modifications are due to take xxxx months, after which the Mororail wagons will return to service.'

They returned to service on the Sunlander in mid/late last April.
