TWO railway detonators are missing from near the Coomera railway station on the Gold Coast, police say.

The detonators are the size of a large coin with two straps and are used on railway lines to make a loud sound as a warning signal to train drivers.

Police said the detonators had been misplaced during routine track work about 1.25 km south of Coomera station.

They could cause serious injury if incorrectly handled and should not be touched.

Anyone with information about the detonators should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
