AdelaideNow: Trains make way for the new RAH

Quote
Train operations have been shifted from the North Tce railyards in preparation for construction of the new Royal Adelaide Hospital.

ADELAIDE'S rail operations have been shifted to Dry Creek in preparation for the new city hospital.

Premier Mike Rann said the shift, finalised today, was the start of an "exciting new chapter" in the city's history.

Commencement of construction on the North Tce railyards site, expected this year, will deal a near-fatal blow to the Liberals' proposed covered city stadium, slated for building on the same site.

Can someone please explain to me, why Adelaide needs to build a "covered sports stadium" - why not further advance the practical, used every day of the year rail network - WHY, WHY, WHY do we keep getting BONEHEAD politicans in this country, who have a fixation with "sports stadiums" - that sit empty for about 350 days a year - but it takes them decades to find the money to put into the rail networks of this country - which contribute directly EVERY DAY to national productivity.

Isn't it about time, professional sport, the type that uses covered sports stadiums, started to fund, along with their sponsors, including multi billion dollars global media networks etc, these temples to moronic boredom of the teaming masses!

Excuse the rant, but no wonder its an "opposition" pushing such utter rubbish - while commuters suffer on a daily basis!
SEQ, where our only "fast-track" is in becoming the rail embarrassment of Australia!   :frs:
