Bicentennial Bikeway set to reopen after two-week closure due to floods

THE Bicentennial Bikeway will reopen at 6am tomorrow following a two-week closure due to the floods.

Once floodwaters receded late last week, Brisbane City Council worked to remove debris from the bikeway, assess damage and undertake repairs, and ensure it is structurally safe.

Repairs continue at Drift Restaurant so users are advised to take care in the vicinity.

"Also, if you must use the path after dark, take extreme care along the entire bikeway as lighting has not yet been restored," a council spokeswoman said.

Lighting will be restored as soon as possible.

Temporary closure to affect Bicentennial Bikeway tomorrow January 27, 2011

The Bicentennial Bikeway will be temporarily closed to all cyclists and pedestrians between 7am and 2pm tomorrow (Thursday) due to repair work being carried out at the Drift Restaurant in Milton.

The Bicentennial Bikeway will be closed from Sylvan Rd to Cribb St, taking in the Land St underpass.

Coronation Drive traffic will not be affected.

Cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to utilise the inbound footpath. Traffic control will be onsite to assist with direction at either end of the bikeway closure.
