Coronation Drive - alternatives

Looks like Coronation Drive is going to have some severe traffic restrictions for a while.  This is going to further exacerbate the bus delays no doubt.

What are some possible alternatives?

I would like to think the IPS-CAB timetable implementation could be brought forward to give a higher rail frequency around the clock ...  this would help.

I think it is unlikely they will do that right away.  What about just implementing the Richlands timetable sooner?

Certainly an option ..

Another thing might be sending the outbound 444+88 along Milton Rd & Jephson St rather than struggling along the single outbound lane on Coro, where it presumably can't stop.

Well I suppose they could do this if they ignore the feedback from the draft timetable.  of course if they do that we will all be complaining they didn't listen. Nope in reality that would be a lose-lose situation for them.  Better just to add a few services in now and advertise them at local stations untill new timetable comes out close to middle of the year.  When richlands comes into service that is being advertised as a interim timetable.

Richlands is so close to opening it is not worth talking about moving it forward in my opinion.  On top of that why open richlands earlier if they can't get the staff to crew the trains now. Opening richlands earlier will just make less frequent services elsewhere. Better to wait a week.

Treat it like we treated the last problem on Coronation Drive: revive the route 400 and maybe add a direct rocket 401
and then feed the smaller routes to it at Indooroopilly and or feed rail.

The events of the past day with all the traffic show just how impractical life in the city is without proper public transport.
Let's hope something is sorted come monday- weekend congestion and heavy traffic is already bad enough and a sign of what is to come- otherwise unprecedented gridlock and chaos will result. Hopefully QR will do its best to ensure monday trains will be more frequent to dampen this possibility as best it can.

To be fair these aren't normal traffic patterns by any means. Besides, buses were running to a Saturday timetable.

Only some of the buses.  And I wouldn't exactly have been keen to rely on PT when I didn't know where I had to go to get the bus home!  Maybe there were/are signs outside KGSBS & QSBS for alternate stops, but I didn't see any.
