ABC News --> Flood map update alters thousands of Brisbane property flood levels

QuoteMore than 30,000 Brisbane properties are now deemed less likely to flood after Brisbane City Council recently updated its flood maps — but about 7,000 properties have had their flood levels increased.

The council's move to update flood mapping without citywide notification has prompted criticism from independent councillor Nicole Johnston, who said the council should have done more to inform residents ahead of time.

But another 7,296 properties have had their river flood planning levels increased, and 921 properties have had their creek flood planning levels increased — meaning they are now deemed more likely to flood than previously. ...
