QuoteFares are based on how many zones are travelled through in a journey, and route 77 travels through zone 1 when it goes through the CLEM7 tunnel (see http://www.translink.com.au/tickets-and-fares/fares/route-77-fares).

For example, a journey from Buranda to Windsor station would be a two zone fare as you would travel from zone 2 (Buranda) through zone 1 via the CLEM7 and finish again in zone 2 (Windsor station).

=============

The question is, what would be the fare for travel from Eight Mile Plains to Chermside?  A Zone 7 fare?  If so this is a radical departure from the rest of the network.

The journey planner shows it as a 4 zone fare ..

This TransLink notice is confusing.

It would be a 4 zone fare. As you have traveled through 4 zones (1,2,3,4) Just because you have traveled through a given zone more than once, doesn't change the fair.

Route 77 is exactly the same as other cross town travels on public transport.

That is what I have always thought, wonder why the special notice??

E.g.  rail  Taringa to Eagle Junction zone 2 to zone 2 two zone fare ..

Because there are no destinations within the tunnel itself but the tunnel is in zone 1
May as well pay the toll, the prices are very similar!

This would be better as: Fares are based on how many the actual zones (that) are travelled through in a journey

How many zones means to me the total number of zones travelled, compared to the actual zones that are travelled through ...  subtle but different

Say I travelled zone 10 to zone 10, I have travelled through 19 zones, but the actual zones travelled through are zones 10 to 1.

Its not quite the same- it is just a co-incidence for Brisbane , as the zones radiate away from the CBD.

For example, I can travel from zone 12 to zone 16 on the Gold Coast
and I have done a 5 zone trip.

I could travel from (making this up) CBD to Banoon and also do a 5 zone trip.

I've actually been mentioning to post something about this up here to see if anyone has actually done it recently. My friend catches the 77 from Windsor to Buranda then changes to go to UQ Lakes most week days but is only ever charged a single zone fare (ie: only traveling within zone 2). Thats what I've been told but I have not actually checked it myself. Has anyone else noticed this recently?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
