Success for the 412

Brisbane's newest high frequency bus route is proving a winner with users as passenger numbers on the improved route 412 show exceptional growth.

Transport Minister Rachel Nolan said route 412 (St Lucia and University of Queensland to City and Toowong) was upgraded to a high frequency service as part of the July $5m Brisbane bus package.

"Since the upgrade the 412 has experienced a 52 per cent increase in passenger numbers over the weekends and 16 per cent increase during the week," Ms Nolan said.

"The weekend service is proving extremely popular with locals, not just students, with an average of 33 passengers on each bus between 8am and 9pm."

Ms Nolan said the public transport user survey undertaken in May identified this route as an important service with many users being reliant on public transport.

"As a result, we responded by upgrading route 412 into Brisbane's 12th high frequency service in collaboration with Brisbane Transport," Ms Nolan said.

"By adding extra services, The University of Queensland weekend service now runs every 15 minutes to and from the city on both Saturday and Sunday.

"On weekdays route 412 runs every five minutes during the morning peak period and every five minutes back to the city during the afternoon peak.

"This means passengers don't have to pre-plan their journey or refer to a timetable as they can just turn up and expect a service every 15 minutes or better from 6am to 11pm, 7 days a week on this route."

Ms Nolan said the growth in passenger numbers on the 412 was most likely due to new passengers using public transport.

"We've seen a 7 per cent increase overall for public transport services using this corridor," Ms Nolan said.

"This results prove that the new route 412 package has worked extremely well."

Have any of them NOT been spectacularly successful?

As you say, where are the rail services?

Also, where is the 100+110+120+modified 180+300 BUZ routes.  There are others you might add to that list also.  Most notably Jindalee/Mt Ommaney/Everton Park + Eastern routes

It shows..again...that our transport system has a supply problem not a demand problem
