Noticed this article in today's CM.  What particularly caught my eye was the last sentence ..

.." made more difficult by the lack of a good public transport system and safety concerns about public transport "

Perception of being unsafe does not correlate to the reality, and we all know the issues with public transport generally.
Last night when I travelled home on the train from Indooroopilly there were two TOs on board, checking tickets and go cards.  The station staff member at Oxley was on the platform when the train arrived.  More attention needs to be directed to assisting new users and safety education.

This is a difficult issue for those who can no longer drive as they once did.  It may be because of age or other medical condition. It may be because of financial problems or loss of a vehicle due to breakdown, crash or even stolen.

UQ website for the program mentioned in the article --> http://www.uq.edu.au/uqdrive/index.html
