Sunshine Coast Airport shuttle bus service

On Monday 18 October a shuttle bus will begin servicing the Sunshine Coast Airport bus stop.

The shuttle will run express in both directions between Maroochydore (Sunshine Plaza) and the airport between 7am and 6pm seven days a week.

The shuttle service will operate for approximately 4-6 weeks until the Caloundra bus depot opens and a permanent airport service is put into operation.

The new shuttle service will eliminate the need for passengers to walk from the airport terminal to the nearest public bus stop on David Low Way.

A timetable will be available closer to the implementation date.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...

How about a direct service to/from Nambour that connects with rail services??

There were rumours some time back of the introducing a new bus service from Noosa to Nambour via Coolum (which may have included Sunshine Coast Airport stop) 'Sunshine Coast Sunbus route 621' but sadly it never eventuated.

Would it be possible to ever have a train station at Sunshine Coast Airport
(NOT PRIVATE EITHER!!!) by extending the Maroochydore CAMCOS line?

Not sure how the alignment would work, what are your thoughts?

The proposed CAMCOS alignment has a extension to Sunshine Coast Airport, however, it skips the Sunshine Plaza stop.  This would allow services past Maroochydore, however any "direct" runs south of Maroochydore/Sunshine Plaza would skip that stop to the proposed triangle alignment of the Maroochydore/Sunshine Plaza stop.  At most it would allow train shuttles north of Maroochydore (to the Airport/Noosa) on the alignment.

However, a extension from Sunshine Coast Airport to Noosa, would allow Noosa-Maroochydore shuttles, connecting to Sunshine Coast - Gold Coast (via Brisbane) CoastLink services at the Sunshine Plaza train station.

Noosa has broken away from the Sunshine Coast Regional Council under de-amalgamation.  SCRC will not be doing any planning for PT past Maroochydore, nor will they lobby SG for it, so Noosa will have to got it alone.  New Noosa council to operate from January 1, 2014.

Oh great, another regressive move.  Go Newman! :frs:

What next, de-amalgamation of Moreton Bay Regional Council?

Heck, let's just de-amalgamate BCC to the pre-1924 shires. I'm sure even Emerson would be able to get Sandgate Town Council to co-operate with a bus review.

Seeing that the "Free Buses" promo was originally a 'Noosa Shire' funded thing, one has to ask what will happen to the free buses initiative.  There would have to be a  loser out of this, and I'd suspect it's the users of Route 620 onwards as I can't see the NSC being able to afford it come the December-January holiday period.

I'm sure the routes in and out of the NSC will survive, as there are plenty of examples where buses from neighbouring councils run in the BT (and vice-versa for BT operating into the Moreton Bay Council as far as Strathpine).  However, the chances are the the SCRC won't be too keen on funding 'free travel' on routes that either partially or entirely run in the NSC (Route 620 onwards)

Noosa Council started the very popular free buses durin the holidays to ease gridlock in Hastings Street.  At the height of the tourist season, it can take 20 mins to go 1km along Hastings Street -- lots of time stopped to admire the bikini set.
