I think it is time for SEQ to have a single (train, bus, ferry and eventually light rail) high frequency map.   Translink's (http://www.translink.com.au/maps.php) site has a rail map, a BUZ map, regional maps and 2-40 individual bus route maps.  This makes it impossible for people to quickly see where they can go without waiting long.  It also make sit hard to see where the city is porrly serivced by high frequency public transit.

Jarrett Walker at humuntransit.org has discussed the topic of high frequency maps and maps generally in detpth.  http://www.humantransit.org/maps/ and http://www.humantransit.org/2009/12/bostons-new-rapid-transit-and-key-bus-routes-map.html

With integrated ticketing surely it is now time for integtarted transit mapping!!!

TransLink has a map of BT's high-frequency bus routes (BUZ + CityGlider). However, it's appalling: obviously not properly proofread after recent updating. Despite a basic (but very useful) graphics program* and no formal training, I've been trying to conjure up a half-decent "frequent service" map [link since removed, as I've given up on the whole BUZ/Glider map thingy], simply because the official one is so utterly atrocious!

*Since submitting this post, I've upgraded to Inkscape. Free, but way more advanced than what I was using previously. (And no, that was not Microsoft Paint.)

Sigh.

Perth (AGAIN!!) ::) , along with many other cities in the world has already integrated their PT network into Google Maps and Google Transit.

So now someone with iPhone or something similar can type in what they want and where to go and get the latest
information, a map with their journey drawn for them, and the estimated journey time and know which streets to walk in.

Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

I agree with Max, the BUZ map is crap! One of the most glaringly obvious flaws I saw was that it shows the 444 STARTING at King George Square then going to the Cultural Center then off down Coro drive. On another note, awesome Map there Max, perhaps TL should give you the job?
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
