Where is it?

Stillwater

The faded signs must make it difficult for visitors.  I suppose they are not so much needed because of the onboard announcements.

I can recall, not sure whether it is Qld though, where there used to be signs at the end of the platforms, at either end, saying 'next station is such and such'.  If you were not sure where you were, you could see the sign before the trrain sped up.

ozbob

oops, Golli got it first  .  yes it is Wilston but how would you know unless you were a regular traveller ...  particularly at night ...

The announcements are not always audible, and some folks have trouble hearing them as well ..

Lol, by all of 30 seconds. I don't have any pics so either HTG can have it, or its open.

I got it from the hunch it was on the FG line and then the billboard. Though the first station with dodgy signs on the FG line that came to mind was Alderley.

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Damn only 30 seconds  :D :D I've got nothing aswell so I guess its open floor then.

There are still some floating around here in the inner city (Toowong, Albion).  This also used to be common in Sydney but appears to have largely vanished.

Would that be on the Ipswich line, with the coalie on the non-electrified line somewhere near Oxley?

I'll give it to Golliwog, it's between Oxley and Darra with the empty coalie heading West on the Up Sub.

kentwager has it.  Pinkenba.

The train was the afternoon peak Pinkenba to Darra service. DEL 1528 + SX set pictured just prior to departure from Pinkenba on the afternoon of September 24, 1993.  This was the final Pinkenba service ever, 24/09/1993 being the date of closure & bus substitution of the Doomben/Pinkenba line by the Goss Government.  After this date, for several years the only services to run were a handful of Ascot/Doomben race specials, until the line was re-instated to Doomben by the Borbidge Government on 27/01/1998.

Zoiks, the train in question did traverse those tunnels, however I neglected to take a photo.  From the same day I do have a photo of the Brown "Pinkenba Line" indicator lit up at Central, showing red lamps beside all stations to Pinkenba for the last time ever.  Those indicators are now history themselves.

Caboolture station, platform 2 and 3.

HappyTrainGuy

Is it walking down the stairs on the Southern end of Manly railway station. Carpark to the right and the top of the painted walkway across the track/sidings to the left?
