I like IMU 162. It was the first IMU 160 train that I have been on and I see it alot.. :-t

Pity I can't choose the 2000 Class Railcar ..
7 years at Bayside Buses
33 years at Transport for Brisbane
Retired and got bored.
1 year at Town and Country Coaches and having a ball !

Definately the EMUs, they have character and decent air con.

By contrast, the SMU IIs are by far the worst when it comes to air con in the heat of summer, where you might as well carry around a portable air conditioner with you.

The 160s are a nice unit so they get my vote.

ICE comes in second though. I love their sound and the smooth(er than an EMU) ride.

I like the 160s too, but prefer the softer seats and overhead luggage racks of the 100-120s. The 260s are great for suburban trips though.

I'd like to try the ICE's but never got a chance to ride them.

What about the tilt trains? They look pretty posh through the window.

On a hot summer day - EMU, the meatlocker on steel wheels
On a cold day - IMU 120 series
Though my favourite will always be the ICE. Used to ride it from city to Nerang most afternoons to go home in early 1999. Put the seat back, snooze off for almost an hour with the quiet ride and comfy seats. They will be missed.

I went for a short ride on an ICE (Roma St-Bowen Hills, no time for expressing to Caboolture). Ride was very smooth and quiet, seats were wider, comfortable and even had little fold out tables! The interior design looked old and worn, but certainly a class above the EMUs and older IMUs. Must be to do with their former long distance design and feel. Definitely one of my favourites.

EMUs get my vote. They have character, speed,  the air con WORKS!! (unlike the pathetic SMU IIs.),
and they don't have an ear shattering horn.
EMU 79 is my favourite. It featured all vinyl flooring as a prototype for almost 10 yeras until some 'PC expert' in QR decided to replace it with carpet when it was refurbished last year -strange when the new rollingstock is being delivered with all vinyl saloons.  :-t
