Transforming our Cities (one of seven infrastructure categories)

Early Stage
Initiatives address a nationally significant issue or problem, but the identification or development of the right solution is at an early stage.

Melbourne Metro Stage 2 (Vic; tbc)

Managed Motorway Proposals: NSW, Victorian, South Australian and Western Australian proposals
(NSW, SA, WA, Vic; $3,200m)

Threshold
Initiatives in this category have strong strategic and economic merit, and are only not ready to proceed due to a small number of outstanding issues.

Support for commitment to urban plans for all cities by 2012
Jurisdictions to satisfy the Council of Australian Governments criteria in their urban plans
Jurisdictions to commit to common standards for public transport assessment

South West Rail Link (NSW; $2,400m)

Eastern Busway (Stages 2b and 3) (Qld; $825m)

Managed Motorways Proposals – SE Queensland (Qld; $782m)

Northern Link Road Tunnel (BCC; $1,780m)

Ready to Proceed
Initiatives in this category meet all of Infrastructure Australia's criteria.

Melbourne Metro Stage 1 (Vic, BCR = 1.5 (including WEBs). Capex = $4,900m)

WTF is a managed motorway other than just further denial that endless road building will not fix congestion!!!!!!!!!!

It appears that IA ( Infrastructure Australia) is now going to produce an "annual" report released in June.

Above was my extract from the June 2010 report, I have just downloaded the Infrastructure Australia's report Communicating the Imperative for Action June 2011 report.

Interestingly it downloads as a SECURED PDF document which means you can not just copy slabs of the document off into a Word document & make up comparative tables/info (as I did last year). This always indicates to me an organisation not wishing their information to be disseminated.

Last time it happenned with me with submissions (by a grain handling Company) to the ACCC, & I found that they had also encrypted other PDF's with a program that added bogus letters/numbers when you "Copy" & "Paste" from the PDF.  ...... funny that after I informed the ACCC the organisation hasn't done it again..... ;)

I know its a bit late but, managed motorways is actually trying to NOT build more roads. Variable speed limits to reduce traffic and maximise flow, smart traffic systems to detect crashes so they can be rectified faster and thus reduce delays.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
