METRO Trains is considering displaying ''a face for every station'' among its plans to make train stations more unique to their communities.

Metro Trains spokesman Chris Whitefield said that while its main priority was to get trains running and on time, which it has failed to do since taking over the contract, the ''face'' idea was part of a plan to ''brand'' stations.

''It is one of the ideas we are thinking about and it would probably be a local person or it might be staff or we might get people to display their favourite photographs to help give the station a bit of ownership and a bit of a community feel,'' Mr Whitefield said.

''It is about branding the stations, but also it is about building community around the station. It is also about the interactions between station staff and passengers and from passenger to passenger, too.''
