Masses of standing room round the doors in this refurbished Comeng train. Almost no graffiti too, for now

Appreciate the extra standing room but the grab handles above the doors are an OHAS hazard especially for taller people. The Grab handles/bars have also been place at the doorway entry point for Goldlink trams too. When the could of been installed at the centre of the tram at the doorways similar to Qld rail.

There are vertical stanchions centred between some of the tram doors, but not all.

Melbourne Age --> Metro pulls up short to meet performance targets

QuoteMetro is terminating trains part-way along the line hundreds of times a week, dumping passengers short of their destination in an effort to meet lucrative government-mandated performance targets.

The extent of Metro's short running is revealed in leaked internal documents that show 400 services were altered in just one week this month as the company scrambled to satisfy a new, more accurate performance monitoring system introduced on March 1 ...

#Metro

I have a good feeling about the Melbourne system. I think eventually most of the network will become automated with no drivers. If you look at the development of the railway, it certainly is heading in that direction.

Negative people... have a problem for every solution. Posts are commentary and are not necessarily endorsed by RAIL Back on Track or its members.

Train delays now up to 1 hour

Metro now estimates delays of 45 minutes to an hour for commuters, as the system catches up on the 15 minutes the trains were halted, Michelle Griffin reports.

A fire alarm at the control centre at Transport House in Collins Street was activated 8.28am, according to a Metro spokeswoman.

"It turned out to be a false alarm, but all staff were evacuated. Staff returned at 8.43am. In that time, trains were grounded."
