Mother fucker! It was just yesterday I was thinking about rallying RBOT around the cause of of a press release calling for Google Transit integration! It might not seem like much but let me tell you, when I travel the world and visit "world cities" (both new and old) and find there is no Google Transit integration, I think "mother fucker, this ain't be no world city, yo!!!!". In fact I dare say I have never visited a world city (new or otherwise) that was without this Google Transit integration. It is truly the mark of a world city (new or otherwise) that it is included in the Google Transit phenomonon.

I came back from cairns and the buses there (sunbus/qlink) had google integration.

I could be anywhere in cairns city, open up google maps on my iphone and select my current location using GPS and then type my destination (or choose it on the map) and select public transport directions and it will tell me where to walk (it has a compass for direction too) to get to the bus stop and then what bus to get and where to get off and walking directions to final destination.

It would be great if translink did an integration (or at least on the major bus/train routes)

(sorry for bringing up an old post)

I fail to see what the delay is with this.  As I understand it, Google offers the service for free.  You just have to supply the data in a particular format.  It'd probably take a database administrator a few days at most to put it together.

I am nearly 100% sure it would take somewhat longer than that.  Perhaps not 6 months though.
