I would hope that they are not more co-incidences of the type similar to the NCL duplication works that stopped at Beerburrum in April 2009, 24 days after the election and the seat changed hands.
It may make for an interesting analysis as to which works (in certain seats) have been curtailed.

If anyone has the time ( i won't until end of november) it wouldn't be to hard to create such a map of SEQ where we can outline upgrade within certain electorates, whether they are marginal etc, would make a very useful media tool.

Does anyone have updates on what's going on at Eagle Junction and Narangba? Are they still getting upgrades or not?

The tender documents for Narangba are still available, which means the tender is still open (not yet awarded).

Having reviewed same just now, it appears Narangba's platform configuration is going to be:
- Platform 1 - side platform (as per current)
- Platform 2 - side platform (existing 2/3 to be reconfigured and what is currently platform 3 fenced off)
- Platform 3 - side platform (western side of the station)

The platform 3 road will be right against the back of platform 2.

All platforms to be fully raised.

No idea what is happening with Eagle Junction timeframes, but it is proceeding (and should also involve full raising).

Why?

Is there a problem with a 1 side 1 island config at Narangba?

I don't know, but perhaps to increase accessability? With P3 being a side platform, you could enter/exit straight onto Narangba Rd, though if it becomes a gated station then it would require fencing and gates anyway which would defeat that. Just my thoughts on it.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I should have added that platforms 1 and 3 will have a single entry plaza each.  They will be provisioned for gates, but according to the plans only SACIDs (stand-alone readers) will be installed for now.

Platform 2 will be the loop track, so it seems that Caboolture services would generally arrive on the new platform 3 in the off-peak, meaning 50% chance of stairs/lift instead of 100%.  In particular, no need to use the bridge to get to make connections to buses, which will still be leaving from the western side.

Thanks for the information. The artists impressions for both EJ and Narangba were so grand and wonderful that I was becoming concerned that they would stay that way - artists impressions. The original finish date for the upgrade to EJ was Late 2011. Should I not expect this anymore?

I think there is a need for Narangba terminating passenger trains, but unless these are to be implemented, I don't see how platform 2 is needed then.  Is it a new platform or just the existing island with the platform 3 face fenced off?

Existing platform 3 fenced off and the whole island becomes platform 2, new platform 3 constructed with adjacent bus interchange (same as the side platform at Petrie).

The architecture is more or less the same as the image which appeared on the TL website.
