I've noticed for the past few months this service has been only a 4-car set.  Not suprisingly, its all-seats taken past Caboolture with few standees, and its standing room past Beerwah on the return journey.

If a ICE ain't available, a 6-car SMU200/220/260 is on this run (and thus somewhat borders on 'zero-harm', passengers not being able to take toilet breaks after a long journey - as there are no rest stops on most Nambour/Gympie journeys).

IMO, If QRPassenger really cared about 'Zero-harm' there would be ZERO non-toilet equipped suburban units travelling on the Sunshine Coast Line.  Assuming there are enough crew, there are no Ifs or buts about it.

I know there is a spare 6-car ICE around on the weekends (failing that a 6-car IMU with toilets should be on the service), so I personally blame whoever at QR is doing the fleet allocations on the weekends.

And they've been doing for years, it really irritates me when I from time-to-time see an IMU's (with toilets etc) being sent out to places like Shorncliffe (a distance of 20.7km) and yet many Nambour (a distance of 104.0km) services regularly get trains with none  :pr ??? >:D   We are the poor cousins of that other coast down south...... :-\
Proud to be a Sunshine Coaster ..........

Hah - I don't think busting to go to the toilet is covered under 'zero harm'. Just ask any traincrew  :P

Don't they have breaks and changeovers?

Bring back 6-car ICE back on the Sunday Gympie service!!  :pr :pr

There are no excuses why this could not be done.  There are plenty of ICE units available on a weekend.  Not to mention the unnecessary crowding (due to only 4 carriages being used) to and/from Beerwah/Landsborough on the Sunday service.

If the ICEs aren't available on the weekend for maintenance reasons, a 6-car IMU (with toilets) should be the only type of MUs allowed to subsitute for the ICE on this service.

Its bad enough many Brisbane-Nambour services are serviced without toilets (and the blog stories on the local papers about those with weak bladders using "bottles").  QR enforced 'zero-harm' carriage lockups by forcing passengers into the front 3 cars when stations north of Landsborough had short platforms (prior to them getting platform extensions).  Even during peak periods, which forced unnecessary crowding in the front 3 car on some peak services.

Yet QRPassenger sending trains without toilets to Nambour, which IMO infringe on "Zero-harm" according to QR's logic.  If QRPassenger really cared about "zero-harm", there would be 'zero' non-toilet equipped services travelling on the Sunshine Coast Line, period.  No ifs or buts about it.

To reply to a earlier post: Some services do have changeovers at Caboolture.  However, most services does not incorporate toilet breaks for passengers.  I've noticed it's usually quick changeover of crew at Caboolture then a quick departure (usually 1-2 mins of fat built in for crews to changeover).
