Cross conecting services,
Clevland to Ipswich, via Dutton Park - Yeeroongpilly - Corinda
Gold Coast to CBD/Airport via Moorooka - Sherwood - Indoorpilly - Toowong - Roma Street
Rerouting some Gold Coast - Airport services would
(a) provide direct access to gold coast passengers to Indoorpilly and Toowong, there is ample capacity on the main between Sherwood and the CBD, would provide a more direct access to all Ipswich/Springfield line stations and release train paths through the South Brisbane - Bowen Hills bottle neck.
(b) provide direct access to Airport Services for pasengers from Sherwood - Indoorpilly and Toowong that presently does not exist without increasing the numbers of services by better utilisation of equipment and existing infrastructure.

It is worth a small trial.
If freeways are full and they don't even go to the city, it might work for rail...

Convert the Ferny Grove and Doomben lines to light rail.  Extend Doomben light rail into the new developments at Hamilton.  From Bowen Hills track the light rail through Exhibition, Normanby, to Roma St, then up George St to Parliament.  Extend the light rail into the Samford Valley from Ferny Grove.

So you would be reducing the number of trains from Gold Coast to South Bank, and South Bank to Airport, and be creating a more complex timetable with 2 Gold Coast routes (with added conflicting moves)? Are people from Sherwood not capable of changing trains at Central?

I doubt light rail would have enough capacity for projected passenger movements on the Ferny Grove Line.
Doomben may be a possibility though if space is available at Eagle Junction for an interchange.

* departures from Central between 16:30 and 17:30.

Excursion trains! I Interesting... how about Eumundi/ Yandina markets service on a Saturday.  Morning service Roma St- terminate Cooroy return Nambour as shuttle only. Mid morning and/or 1-2 pm shuttle Nambour - Cooroy-Nambour.

Freight trains also use that alignment IIRC, re-wiring and heavy rail compatibility...

A light rail vehicle would likely be ...
... a tram-train.

And while it is going near the busway, it could probably be put on the busway too.

Connect 1 tph Gold Coast to Sunshine Coast and 1tph to Doomben, then connect Airport to Manly/Cleveland.

That one would be better off coming from Ferny Grove, unless these trains are different trains to the ones which will increase frequency on the inner Beenleigh line.
