Have to disagree with you on the first point.  Remaining shuttle operations are best off replaced by express services
I don't believe that I said otherwise.

The university is within walking distance of the old and I understand now disused station at Lawes, as for those traveling to the prison both staff and visitors they will be catered for by the local bus operator as an extension of the local service, potentialy higher passenger numbers than from Nambour.
As for Toowoomba at a later date the electrification could be extended to Helidon which would enable a resumption of the old Coordinated service between Toowoomba and Helidon which could be operated by either one of the local Toowoomba operators or by Translink as a seperate service.
So, providing shuttle buses to Ispwich and/or Rosewood would be a good test of patronage?  If the patronage is good enough, then perhaps re-instate that branch, if I'm not misunderstanding what you are saying there.  Seems like some way from the train line to the UQ campus ATM.

Electrified Rail to Toowoomba and Light Rail loop from Toowoomba station to the Uni and back might be a good Idea.
No point on the current alignment.  Who'd take a 3.5 hour train ride (or whatever it is) when a 2 hour bus ride is available?

A shuttle bus service is currently avaliable but is poorly utilised because of service, comfort and convenience factors, at present time most use cars because of the inconvenience of the existing arangements.
Comment has been made for some time by some Gatton area residents that it would seem that Translink goes out of its way to ensure that the services provided are as inconvenient as possible so as to deter their use, and question why they should endure lower levels of public transport service than residents of Landsbrough.
To and fom the Gatton/Lockyer Valley one has to get into the township then catch the bus which is a less than comfortable mode of transport to Rosewood then change to the rail shuttle to Ipswich then again change trains at Ipswich after a further wait.
Were there a rail service avaliable from Gatton station, it would be train from Gatton through to Ipswich or Brisbane needing only a change of trains to complete a journey to any intermediate point, which would be much quicker and far more comfortable.
As for an eventual Toowioomba connection the old Coordinated service was almost an hour faster than the train journey from Helidon to Toowoomba and was relatively well patronised but was superseeded by the introduction of the Metro Link road service From Toowoomba to Ipswich and then later extended to the Transit centre.

Landsborough Station doesnt only serve its town, it the main bus/rail interchange of the Sunshine Coast has a lot of Park-n-Ride commuters on top of the Bus/Rail interchange, the Sunshine Coast region has a population of around the 300,000 mark, which is  double the population than the combined Lockyer Valley region beyond Ipsiwch.  The Landsborough Station car park is full on a working weekday with more cars overflowing and parked out in the streets of Landsborough.

Gatton Buses/Trains only serves the town with little to no walk up patronage from other parts of the region.

Whilst I do agree up Gatton could do with a one-change (or direct in peak) rail service into Brisbane.  The 1890s rail alignment west of Rosewood (Which is worse than the NCL north of Landsborough through to Gympie may I add) would very much add to its travel time when a express coach service (via Greyhound and other operators) can get there a lot faster.

Unless stated otherwise, Opinions stated in my posts are those of my own view only.

It would seem that some feel that those living to the west are less entitled to public transport services, if the services were avaliable Gatton would be as large a collecting point of passengers as Landsbrough not just for the commuters out of the Lovkyer Valley area but also if there was an adequate level of service for many of those who currently do the daily commute from the Toowomba region.
People can not use a service that government fails to provide despite being obliged to provide such services under community service obligations.

With relation to the rail alignment to the west of Rosewood the alignment is of a good standard as far as Grandchester from where it is presently proposed to build a new alignment (tunnel) through the Little Liverpool Range to Laidley to cater for the freight traffic  and with the exception of the existing stretch of line through the Little Liverpool Range the line is double track as far as Helidon and the alignment for most of the route would allow track upgrades to allow 120kph (or better) running speeds for electrics.

Why not include Toowoomba into the Translink zone. At present they are excluded.

Try travelling on public transport to Toowoomba, and then you'll see why it is not built into Translink. I would hazard a guess that more people travel by public transport from Brisbane to London than Brisbane to Toowoomba.
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2007 - 7tph
Evening peak service to Enoggera* 2010 - 4tph
* departures from Central between 16:30 and 17:30.

1. I would like to see many more of the new modern TRANSLink bus stop shelters rolled out accross the entire TL network (especially around the Sunshine Coast region, most of the bus shelters up here are shocking). All of these new bus shelters are to include decent lighting at night for safety etc.

2. I would like to more 'real time' bus timetable displays/indicators rolled out accross the TL network especially at major bus stops/interchanges/stations like Sunshine Plaza (Maroochydore), Kawana Shoppingworld, Noosa Heads bus station, Pacific Fair (Broadbeach), Morayfield shopping centre etc, along major roads like the Gold Coast Hwy and Nicklin Way and at Nambour, Landsborough, Caboolture, Petrie, Robina rail/bus interchanges, just to name a few.

3. I would like to see a few more TRANSLink information booths rolled out accross the network at major shopping centre bus stops ie Sunshine Plaza, Pacific Fair, Chermside Shopping Centre, Carindale etc.

I'll be back if I think of any more suggestions.....
Proud to be a Sunshine Coaster ..........

I'd like to see the timetable information go into Google!

Yeah Adelaide and Perth have interfaced their websites into Google Transit! The East coast is yet to comply?

In order of difficulty:

1. I would like to see greater integration between buses and trains at stations, particularly outside the Brisbane City Council area.

2. Capped GO cards, including short-term unlimited use GO cards designed for visitors.

3. A genuine effort to make the Doomben line viable, with proper integration of buses to new population centres like Portside, and consideration of extending it once again to Pinkenba - if not, then scrap it, since it is otherwise a waste of limited platform and railway space in the inner city stations.

4. Serious work on the Redcliffe line - which was allegedly said to be 'shovel-ready' some time ago.

5. Serious thought given to new electrified lines to Helidon (with connection to Toowoomba) and to Jimboomba and Beaudesert.

In no logical order:

1. More TransLink bus shelters (Giving priority to stops that don't currently have DDA access and/or a concrete base)
2. Timetables at EVERY bus stop and ferry terminal
2. TransLink network on Google Transit
3. Introducing weekly/monthly passes similar to Myki or capped amounts
4. Keep adding more GO card retailers and bring every railway station online to sell/topup go cards
5. AVVMs at Busway stations, bus interchanges and ferry terminals
6. More Transit Officers and installing CLOSED fare gates at Railway stations where ever possible to help reduce fare evasion as we move to paperless ticketing
7. Extending route 66 to RBWH and route 393 to City/Cultural Centre
8. More NightLink services and bumped up frequencies on popular routes
9. Directional signage (Like BCC have done) and local area maps to help users navigate the suburbs

Apparently Adelaide is bringing out an onboard GPS tracker with maps as well on mobile phones on their bus services. http://www.studyadelaide.com/Article/NewsDetail.aspx?id=37

Sunbus639

I would like to see Translink extend the Sunshine Coast Sunbus route 639 out to the Coes Creek area (south west suburb) in Nambour and to also trial the bus service on Saturdays for say three months just to see how patronage goes.

~ Northern loop
~ Eastern loop
