Quote Fare adjustments

We're aware customers are having issues with go card due to problems with ticketing equipment following extreme weather, flooding and power loss.

Please touch on and touch off where possible.

In the meantime, we're working on a system-wide adjustment of go card balances for all customers who were unable to touch on and off correctly at train stations over the long weekend and continue to experience issues today. This will take a couple of days to process and your balance will be automatically adjusted when you touch on after Friday 1 February, weather permitting. If you believe you still require fare adjustment after Friday, please request an adjustment online or call us on 13 12 30 sometime next week. You have 8 weeks to request a fare adjustment from the date of travel.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Go card top up facilities offline

Last updated: 5.05pm Wednesday 15 April 2015

Some go card facilities are currently impacted by a power outage at the go card data centre. Customers are still able to touch on and off on all public transport, however top up facilities are currently unavailable from 7-Eleven stores, online at the TransLink website, or via the TransLink contact centre.

You can still top up your go card at any other go card retailer (full service), rail station ticketing office (cash only, no EFTPOS), fare machine (cash only), or on board buses (excluding Brisbane Transport services).

If you've configured your card for auto top up, this service is unaffected.

All go cards facilities will return to normal by 6.30pm. We thank you for your patience as we work to resolve the outage.

Fattious

I was going to post this in the "tell us your experiences" thread but this is also service disruption related and it doesn't appear there was any status posted on the Translink site (may have just impacted one bus/reader).

On afternoon Thursday 3rd Sept I incurred a $5 charge when boarding the 2nd trip in my journey. I was sure I had touched off the 1st trip correctly and the CUBIC reader charged me appropriately.

On reviewing my Gocard history, it shows a $5 Top up/adjustment (failed touch-off correction) at time coinciding with touch on time of the first trip of the morning.

Contacted Translink to enquire about the charge and initially the operator was going to make the adjustment however I raised the $5 adjustment and she confirmed it looks like there was an issue with the system, and that Translink had automatically applied adjustments to impacted cards.

Good work Translink for being proactive! Would be nice if the date stamp on the correction appeared after the date stamp of the $5 charge.

red dragin

Got a flat fare last week - tagged on at Dakabin and got a multiple beep message - couldn't read the screen due to condensation. Others got the "invalid card type message" with the same beeps.

Spoke to QR person in the city, they let me through without tagging off. Got flat fared when I headed home (and missed out on my 9 & free).

Adjustment has been applied but no 9 then free trip  >:(

Brisbanetimes --> Free fares for transport users as Go Card system fails

QuoteCommuters =travelled for free on Brisbane's bus and ferry services on Monday due to widespread Go Card reader failure.

The issue has been occurring since early Monday morning, as of 4.30pm, it had not been resolved.

A Translink spokesman confirmed the issue was ongoing.

It is understood the system is working on trains.

It is unclear how much the system failure will cost in lost revenue, but when bus drivers offered fare-free days in 2017 during bus strikes Brisbane City Council estimated a cost of $515,000 a day.

[I let BT know there was an issue ...  :P]

More transport failure on high!

Good Morning,

The go card system was still down at 10.30pm last evening, and still no official notification.

Have TransLink given up Minister Bailey?  What an useless effort once again by this waste of space.
Time to get cracking with delivering a proper public transport authority.

As the RTI patronage data shows ( https://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?board=91.0 ), the SEQ public transport  network is in a diabolical mess. The rail network is dysfunctional.  The bus network teeters on collapse.  How can people catch a train that departs 12 minutes early?  This is tragic ...

To say we are disappointed with the lack of action at the Ministerial level is an understatement.  A succession of feeble Governments, weak Ministers,  bumbling transport bureaucrats, have delivered gross failure.  And you still hide behind the firewalls of failed communications, secrecy and non-transparency.

Slowly we are breaking through with the truth.

Best wishes,
Robert

Couriermail --> Free travel as go card reader fail continues

QuoteLatest advice from the transport body's customer service line is that "some" readers may be operational on Tuesday morning but they couldn't guarantee any were working.

The best advice was to "trying swiping" to see if it worked. Commuters would not be fined for not swiping and they said travel was effectively free until the problem was fixed.

The system was down from about 4.30am on Monday but it took until Monday evening for Translink to communicate the issue with commuters.

At 5.53pm, Translink wrote on its Facebook page: "Go card device readers on buses and ferries are currently unavailable."

https://twitter.com/TransLinkSEQ/status/1036522491856994305

Public transport advocate group Rail Back on Track called the situation a "transport failure on high".

Go card readers were out @ south bank p2/3
Pids out as well
Do I really need to clarify?
Sarcasm and rhetorical questions don't translate perfectly into written form, do they?

Go Card readers out at Kingston this morning as at 0630. I'm guessing this might have had something to do with free travel last night, and perhaps they just forgot to turn them back on?  :conf

If it's Caboolture Bus Lines it would have to be an issue with smart ticketing, not go card. Caboolture Bus Lines has smart ticketing installed on all their busses.

I'm on a bus with Smart ticketing and the readers are down. Displaying a Cubic diagnostic page on the reader when at a station.
