Ari 🚋

Saw an IMU100/SMU200 leading either an IMU160 or an SMU260 at Taringa today around 12:30, heading on the suburban down towards Ipswich. I assume it was just a regular movement to the workshops, but still an interesting sight. I wasn't aware that was something QR did, although I guess if the 160/260 was dead there wouldn't be any other way to move it.
The best time to break car dependence was 30 years ago. The second best time is now.

Trains will all work for movements. Just not in revenue for obvious reasons. Some are preferred over others. Usually for rollingstock movements. Would have been to Redbank or Ipswich yards.

I know it would be highly unusual, but can NGRs MU with other rollingstock? I've occasionally seen 12 car sets at the Normanby carwash, but never an NGR with anything else (in fact now I think of it, I don't think I've ever seen an NGR there. Do they get washed at Wulkaraka?

I saw an NGR getting washed at Normandy yesterday. It was at around 7:30 when I drove past; presumably on it's way back into the yard.

An NGR (not sure of fleet number) running not in service inbound through Newmarket at around 7:10pm tonight.

ozbob

During track closures they sometimes run NGRs out on the FG line for positioning.

Possibly related to that.

NGR 702 sitting at platform 10, Roma Street. Been there for at least an hour and a half (since 11:30 when I passed through the first time).

Additionally just had SMU 261 pass west through the jump track (between platforms 9 and 10) on a special 'test train' service. Saw some QR employees on board.

Quote from: Cazza on November 02, 2022, 13:01:47 PMIs 261 the ETC2 train?

Looks like it is. If you look closely you can see the square at the bottom right of the front/rear.

Could well be.

See https://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?msg=258098

SMU 276 was the first.  There is another it must be 261.

My Mum actually knows the Safety Officer at QR, so I'll get her to ask and let you know.

Can confirm. SMU261 is the other test train. Blue light means no ETCS, no blue means ETCS is on... kinda counter intuitive.

Thanks for the confirmation Mum and RowBro   :)

I think these two take the cake as Queensland Rail's cutest employees. The pair work 5 nights a week sniffing out creepy crawlies on our trains. Good job pups 🐶
