Understandably and sensibly, after being taken out of service for safety and security reasons a while back, rubbish bins are making a limited return to train stations. They appear in pairs -- a red top general waste bin and a yellow top recycle bin in tandem. In Queensland, the base of each bin is metal, unlike in other jurisdictions (particularly Sydney), where the red and the yellow bins have a clear perspex base and a clear plastic bag liner inside. The contents can be seen easily (including any potential nasty things, if any) and staff can see when the bins are full and need emptying. The see-through bases seem to have everything going for them, so why isn't QR following suit?

Shouldn't have as PN/Aurizon were notified of this last year and confirmation of the mtp changes at the start of March.

I have seen reports by drivers of freight trains that have had late reschedules. Probably due to unexpected unplanned changes etc.  Yes, I am sure that planning has occurred for clear paths, but time to time things crop up unexpectedly.  Just wanted to let readers know that all freight trains cannot be simply routed through the tunnels with the Exhibition loop not available.

All good. In big closures like this operators normally give themselves quite a bit of leeway to cover off any delays as the MTP closures are set in stone. No ifs ands or buts. Miss your intended path and you simply aren't cleared to leave the yard until the closure is lifted. Same with Brisbane bound freight. Miss your slot into the suburban area and the train will be held at Gympie or Maryborough. Usually operators simply won't provide those services on trains operating within a set area or they terminate/stow them at other yards ie Cairns/Townsville/Mackay/Rocky/Gladstone/Maryborough until a path is available. No different to when ports are shut down for works and yards start building up with coal and freighters.

Today is the last day that Hornibrook Bus Lines (including subsidiary South West Transit) operates BCC/TfB services in the Sandgate/Bracken Ridge and Inala areas.

As of tommorow, all Hornibrook/South West operated routes will be operated by BCC/TfB and currently loaned TfB buses to Hornibrook and South West will be returning to their BCC/TfB depots.

I used to regularly catch the 326 and 327. There was one bus driver who used to hit the "continuation button" like 6-7 times each day we passed geebung station (even though nobody was getting on) guessing to make it look like there were 10 on board and not 2-3

The bandicoot should be running around Mayne again this morning trying to hide. The EMU behind it is needed.

01 is still at Ipswich. A number of 80's have been making their way to and from Mayne this past month. EMU82/83 are the latest to be stowed there.

Rare sight reported at Pomona station at noon. An unscheduled southbound 3-car train held on the passing loop while the Gympielander passed through on time, heading north. (Blank desto board for the southbound train.) Informed person who reported that there have been a few 'ghost' trains passing though north of Nambour lately. Suspect they are drivers training on the ETCS system - or testing of system.

Trains running on the mains on the western lines tonight. Both the guard and VAS announced stop at Auchenflower however platform 2/3 are closed due to works I believe. Train ran express to Toowong. A few confused passengers onboard due to not stopping.

If this is going to occur during station upgrades, they really should take the Yeronga approach and close stations to avoid any confusion.

Down coalie  parked on the up sub at Oxley. Presume it didn't make it before the closures this weekend. Been there two days now.

Not sure where to post this so apologies if it's off-topic but I stumbled across this on /r/brisbane

I seriously doubt the existence of an entire train station, but it's interesting nonetheless!

Yeah serious doubt here. What would it even connect to?

HTG will be able to confirm/deny I'm sure ;)

I'd also say anything built underground here would be below sea level. Good luck keeping that high and dry.

ozbob

A possible Coorparoo Eastern Busway underground station is the only thing that might be underground at Coorparoo.

Did some more digging because this is intriguing as f*ck

They mean bus station and its supposedly been pre-constructed under the old Coorparoo Myer Centre when it was redeveloped. Does anybody happen to have any more info/photos of Coorparoo Square being constructed?

QuoteThere is an existing busway and Coorparoo train station nearby, and future plans include space for the busway – the future Eastern Busway – to run under the Coorparoo Junction site.

Edit: From the Probuild website https://www.probuild.com.au/news/news/coorparoo-square-achieves-practical-completion

Quoteincluding a future provision to link to a bus way tunnel.

I was curious about this a while ago, so went through the original development application for the Coorparoo Square development.

From what I can see, none of the Busway station or tunnel itself has been constructed. However, there was extra reinforcing and provisions put in the basement of Coorparoo Square basement to allow for the bus tunnel to be added a bit easier. I have a friend who did the concreting and he said yeah, heaps of extra reinforcing. No secret tunnels though.

Ahh there we go, mystery solved!

Part of me wishes private developers would've been more proactive and constructed it already.

No underground railway station there. Most likely the busway at the old Myer centre which has a partial cavity done for the busway as part of its redevelopment. If I recall it's under the south west part of the property.

Glad to see the return of the regular Monday - Friday rail timetable from tomorrow.

It has been sardine can-like on some of the Ipswich & Springfield line services in the past week. Reducing services on each line from every 6 minutes in the AM Peak to every 15 minutes was bound to cause issues in the core peak period. Not ideal in this time where people are more concerned about keeping their distance from others and where we are trying to get people off the roads to reduce congestion.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?
