The 11am Rockhampton tilt train was at Roma Street Platform 9 today.   Looked to be some confused people on platform 10

Rocky tilt train terminating at Roma Street platform 8, Spirit of Queensland preparing for its journey north on platform 10.

Didn't get which unit, but the ETT had a bit of "animal damage" on the front.

151/154/156 stored in Fishermans Island.

Leaves only 152/155/158 as the remaining ICE units in active service.  Usually 2 paired together working both of the daily Gympie North services, whilst the remaining ICE power pair is usually attached to an EMU for driver training between Caboolture and Nambour.

155/158 is "sole" remaining 5-car ICE.  All other ICE carriages are now located at the North Ipswich Rail yard, withdrawn and awaiting their fate.

Power Pair 152 seems to have been relegated to training duties as a ICE/EMU hybrid for the forseeable future.

Just a small step up from the platform at Taringa.... :frs:

The Sydney trains tone just got played for an arriving train at fortitude valley.

Some odd operations at Beenleigh this morningā€”inbound trains departing P1, terminating/outbound trains on P2 (usually they're the opposite way around).

QR Diesel hauled EMU northbound near Dakabin about 15 minutes ago. I think it was a 6 car, the diesel certainly seemed to be working hard enough for it to be (the engine note got my attention).

Didn't see any numbers on the loco or the EMU's. Could possibly be 01/02/03/04 heading to Maryborough for some preservation work??

And they just returned southbound  :conf

Possibly 84&88 that have been stowed at Petrie being moved. Pulled north to say Narangba, then the loco changed ends and headed south.

Stillwater

Today at 9.18am, an unscheduled ICE train pulled into Nambour Railway Station sporting 'Maryborough' on its destination board. Staffer explained that the train set was heading north 'for a service'. At 10.04am, between Yandina and Eumundi, the ICE's mate was seen heading south towards Nambour on another unscheduled run. Wondering what train type will make the lunchtime Gympie North run today.

ICE152 + Trailer Car has been withdrawn from service.  Seen being towed to Fishermans Island.

This leaves only 2 ICE pairs left. 155+158 (plus trailer car) working the Gympie North services.

Variable message signs at Alma Rd, Dakabin, with a message about overnight road closures tonight and tomorrow night for "underpass upgrade testing (soil sampling?).

New overbridge in use, timber one removed a few weeks ago.

After lunchtime today:

Portable drill or pile driven style (sounded like one) rig at Burpengary station in the bus drop off area. Soil sampling for pedestrian overbridge replacement I'd assume.

Railway workers on track just north of the Lindsay Rd Morayfield/Burpengary underpass. Appeared to be single track running in place based on signals.

Cal

How far away from completion do you reckon the Dakabin upgrade is?

I'd have to visit (I've only seen from driving passed).

From what I can see, the station is probably a few months, but the car park structure is still a while away. The Thompson Rd closure is until mid-year.

I have heard rumours circulating that the final ICE set is out of service.  Anyone able to confirm please?

Saw a comment on Facebook saying it's stored at Mayne on an unwired road, with the intention of preservation.

EMU 85/86 should be making their way north by loco this morning.

Currently on EMU49. I think this is the cleanest EMU I've been on since the '90s. Honestly, if it wasn't for the scratched windows and faded seat fabric (along with the various mods done over the years), you could almost imagine it being new. Not sure if it just got back from maintenance or the QR cleaning crews have just done an exceptional job here. It's cleaner than the typical NGR.

Saw the Spirit of Queensland heading north through Graceville a few days ago. Do they get serviced out that way?

No not that I am aware of.  Sometimes for various reasons the trains might run through to Tennyson and then back into the City.

Normanby has been out of action for short periods with CRR closures. Usually long distance trains use tennyson to turn around. 01-04 May all trains including freight went through the city with long distance services using P3 at Roma Street. Currently Tennyson-Yeerongpilly is closed with all PN freight going via Sherwood and all Acacia Ridge/Fishermans Island going via South Brisbane.

I'm certain I just heard a diesel hauled train go past on the Beenleigh line around Kingston, although I didn't see it. Are there still cattle trains to Holmview? I thought they stopped a couple of years ago.

Stillwater

Today's early morning Gympielander heading south had an unusual destination board sticky-taped to the inside of the driver's cabin window -- two sheets of A4 paper with the words 'Roma Street' written in crayon or Texta. Got a few smiles from the Nambour customers lined along the platform waiting to get on board. :o

Desto wasn't working correctly. Good to go now.

Good to know the issue was sorted quickly.

I'm guessing the Exhibition loop must be closed, as I just saw a PN (I think)-hauled steel & container train on the down main through Fortitude Valley.

Yes, the closures have been causing some timetable issues for the freighters as well.  Any freight service with ' dangerous goods ' cannot run via the tunnels.  This has caused some scheduling issues.

Shouldn't have as PN/Aurizon were notified of this last year and confirmation of the mtp changes at the start of March.
