Lots of activity behind Grammar on the Ekka loop this weekend. Was cycling past and saw tracks getting ripped up, electrical poles and catenary being removed. Preparation for CRR?

Going past mayne north yard today and apart from the store EMU's.  There was nothing in there, the work area was bare.  Never seen it like that before.  Is the CRR related?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Update on mayne north yard.  Only environmental management contractors in there.  Nothing else.  No stored EMU's or SMU's

Rail grinder was moved to Wacol last night and starting Friday night the yard will be disconnected from the main lines over the weekend rail grinder will be at Wacol until Saturday night where it will head to sunshine then Monday morning begins its trip back up north

Is the yard at Wacol finished.  The northern part as well?

Please excuse my ignorance. What is this yard going to be used for?

By finished, I mean ' decommissioned' Jesse.   The northern area (on the up side) has been used for ballast and other used materials recovery even fairly recently.  The southern part of the yard has effectively been decommissioned.  My query relates to the fact that Bretto is suggesting the yard will be disconnected from the main lines. Don't quite understand his meaning.

Wacol had an extensive yard back in the day.  There was even a short line that went from the southern up yard, underneath the Ipswich Highway and into the industrial estate the other side.  There are still some remnants of the cutting leading to the highway.  There were also some sidings on the down side north of the LXs.

Haha sorry Bob Wacol yard is still alive a few roads have been removed but there are plans for some longer roads for work trains and things like that especially with crr taking old Mayne yard north and Clapham yard also being taken. It's a work in slow progress. Normanby yard was completely removed 2 weekends ago and the same is happening to old Mayne yard (north)

Just found out something else.  Queensland Rail had a wagon repair workshop at Wacol.  It is was located on the up side up from the present southern yard.  There is some interesting legacy track around Wacol.  This explains it.

Railway station, Wacol, 1967
Wacol is 18 km south west of Brisbane. To the right of the railway station is the Queensland Railways Wagon Repair Depot.

Channel 7 local news (Sunshine Coast) tonight carried a news item at the top of the bulletin showing young teen boys spray painting a passenger car at Beerburrum Railway Station at 6am today. Passengers took footage of the graffiti incident and QR is investigating.

Very poor this.  Off peak trains from Ipswich normally travel on the down main through Darra and Oxley.

This was unusual to switch to the up main at Darra West so I paid a bit of attention to where the pax were.  At Darra no pax on 4 all on 3.  I think the station staff were probably proactive and made sure pax were informed.

Oxley, pax were waiting on 3 and were surprised to see the train arrive on 2.  I noted they started to move over from the platform.  However the train did not wait, very short dwell and was off.  Oxley is staffed.

DISAPPOINTING to say the least ...   :-[

162 and 268 was reported to be on the "GympieLander" service from Roma Street to Caboolture today before passengers were swapped to an awaiting ICE at Caboolture (The morning inbound "GympieLander" ICE terminated at Caboolture this morning (reportedly late) and instead took over from 162/268 by forming the daytime GympieLander at Caboolture).

162 and 268 formed a Ipswich service back not long after.

On board 201 this morning with 212 leading. 212 has a bright red panto, does anyone know what that's about?

Likely just been replaced and hasn't had time to be covered in carbon yet

A while back there where sets being parked along the ICB section near the 'car wash', when being cycled in and out of service. Perhaps one of those sets? HTG will likely know the answer.

JustSomeTrainGuy

Do QR even own/maintain that part of the network?

Further up Port Dr, there's a very long line of EMU's. Maybe they parked them here whilst doing track work on the ICB section?
