A number of them have been tagged recently. The chemicals to remove it are quite strong for the bodywork which in itself leaves a mark behind.

Also for those that have an eager eye on Sunday 4 SMU220s are having a week rest in the northern yard at Mayne.

Andrew

2×6 car EMU's have been stabled at Normanby for the last few days. Unsure why but to guess I would say it is overflow storage from Mayne yards with all the NGR's in service.

^^I noticed that too cycling past on Sunday night.

Are all the trains going on the mains northgate - roma st? Saw cleaveland bound on central p5, a stationary gc bound 717 just before the fg overpass, a long distance coming up behind it at breakfast ck

QuoteThe train at Park Rd that evacuated customers to the track. I read on 4BC it passed a red signal really close to another train. True or not?

QuoteQueensland Rail Hi Dale, yes we can confirm that a train passed a red signal at Park Road station earlier today. I didn't think they where compatible (aside from the coupler). EMU23 dragging IMU123 to their fate/storage?

Only compatible in recovering failed/moving units.

So the 2x6car EMU's at Normanby have been replaced by 2x6car Bombardiers

Not sure if it's related to the above, probably, but EMU 12 and EMU 13 were spotted today being towed to the Port of Brisbane for scrapping, pantos were removed at the Port from what I've read from the rail enthusiasts on the ground.

red dragin

Do you know if they are being scrapped at the Port, or shipped off?

No idea but I assume it's to just strip them of parts like they have been doing at Ipswich.

achiruel

I didn't think any EMUs had been "officially" retired yet?

Having said that, if they can scrape together 20 or 30 working units by robbing parts, would it be helpful to have them around for another five years or so? Or not enough drivers to even bother?

HappyTrainGuy

What is "officially" anyway? A half the fleet have been out of revenue service for months now.

QRtrains

Holy moly this thread is still a thing?!

Just went on a Ferny Grove train on the mains Roma St—Bowen Hills then had to cut across them at Mayne to get on the flyover. Anyone know what's going on through the CBD?

Thanks, yeah, I saw the work being undertaken on my return journey.

Bretto1082

They are doing a little more then just resleepering the points it's pretty much a full replacement just leaving out the rail and points motors and stuff like that extends the life of the turnout and minimum amount of signal and overheads support needed

Andrew

Just saw EMU 69/71 hauled dead by 24+17 diesel locos heading south at Virginia. If I had to guess, I'd say they'd been towed from storage somewhere further north.

Anyone know why 4 SMU units ( 2 x 6 car ) have been sitting on the Ekka loop at Normanby for over a week now ?. They have now been joined by some EMU's during the week.
Just curious as I've never noticed SMU's being stored there over a week previously..

It is in the NGR thread, looks to be storage/awaiting death row.

SurfRail

That's an EMU.

Have any of them been earmarked for preservation?  Fair enough that the electric locos formerly in use on the passenger system have all gone on to have other lives elsewhere but these things have hit the end of the road and it is off to the scrappers otherwise.  At least EMU01 and maybe one of the 6-motor versions would be a keeper you would hope.

May be worth asking some of the high muckymucks if that is the case.
