Enough rail there to triplicate.. oh wait... this is Queensland...

^ The room may be there, but I can't see why you would ever need to.

Better option by far is to remove the freight off the line completely so the capacity is not required.  Calvert to Bromelton will be so much better engineered than any part of the Ipswich line it isn't funny, no point in running anything this way anymore except for relatively infrequent stuff like Dinmore cattle.

IMU 173 trailing set on the Nambour run today - rides like an almost new train.......  :lo

Beerwah station now has automated platform announcements, triggered by track circuits as per every station south of (and including) Beerburrum.  Stations north of Landsborough do not currently have automated announcements.

On another note, the doors on the older IMU100/120s now close after a few mins of being idle on the platform,  like the doors on the 160/260s.

I contacted Queensland rail Re advertising on board trains on my recent trip out to Cleveland.

To Customer Service

Re: Advertising inside Queensland Rail Trains.

Regarding recent advertising on Queensland rail trains, especially from the cancer council is not very up beat. Is it possible to advertise some more positive community announcements on the train on what's happening around the place? E.g.  festivals, general advertising maybe from Coles or Woolworths or any other corporation which has a positive vibe!?

Thanks for taking my concern on-board

Is this a joke?

I haven't seen the ads, but can only assume the Cancer Council are promoting something in support of preventing cancer/raising funds for a cure. How is that not a positive message?

6:55am from Ferny Grove was a 6-car unit instead of a 3-car unit on Monday 12th. I'm sure it is a one off !
(The two later overcrowded 3-car units services were still reported as 3-car units).

Jumped on a Southbound Nambour -> Caboolture service this afternoon at Beerburrum and was pleasantly surprised to find it was an ICE set. Particularly as the platform announcement foretold a 3 car unit  :tr :tr :tr

Ignominious sight ... the disabled Spirit of Queensland being hauled by a diesel loco onto the passing loop at Pomona station this afternoon.

From QR website ...

Delayed - Southbound Spirit of Queensland - Cairns to Brisbane

The Southbound Spirit of Queensland that departed Cairns Friday 16 October is running 8 hours and 30 minutes behind schedule.

What's happening in the old alignment of the SCL between Caboolture and Elimbah?  Lots of earthworks.

Stabling at Elimbah - uses the old alignment for access just before Elimbah (northbound)

Between Beerburrum and Gympie North, today's northbound lunchtime GympieLander passed four long freight trains heading south -- all passing manoeuvres performed via crossing loops at stations - no dance of the trains.

There is a set of new dual-gauge points sitting across from platform 3 at Southbank (probably waiting for some weekend works).

Be nice if they make Platform 3 accessible for outbound, would provide useful flexibility.

Set 245 & its coupled set (missed the number) both wearing nice big vinyl mustaches on the front, presumably for Movember. Didn't get a chance to take a photo.

There's also a couple 160/260s with them on, they were applied during the day yesterday. Unsure how many will be done in all, but looks good!

Would it be the case that more people use those brooms to get about than the BCC yellow hire bikes?

If those Black Ops fellas ever want to torture for information a difficult prisioner they suspect of threatening national security, the most excruciating pain could be inflicted by strapping them into a seat on the Caboolture-Nambour all-stops rail bus.  I reckon it would take about three trips before they would want to spill their guts – either way, talk or vomit.  I took the trip northbound yesterday.  The bus travels up hill and down dale along a route even yesterday's bus driver admitted sometimes causes him to get lost.  About 12 people on board.  The countryside is scenic.  You just have to adjust your mind and tell yourself you are not a commuter, but a group of pensioners on a magical mystery tour.  It is the only way to maintain your sanity.

How long have the stations around EJ had those "possum anti climb" things installed?

red dragin

Quite a while, i belive not too long after the time the last possum went up in smoke.

Watch government websites today ... Melbourne Cup Day is a perfect time for governments to issue reports carrying bad news, or which might be embarrassing for the government of the day.  Why?  Media attention is focussed elsewhere.   :is-

Then again, sometimes some good news gets announced ...

Vision pass boosts travel accessibility

Commuters who are blind or have low vision will be able to travel more independently across the state with the Palaszczuk Government introducing an upgraded permanent go access Vision Impairment Travel Pass (VITP).

Disability Services Minister Coralee O'Rourke said the pass entitled the holder to free travel on all TransLink services, qconnect bus services in regional Queensland and on services provided by participating interstate public transport operators.

Anyone know why the end of the rails on the MBRL have extra sleepers? Stability/safety?

When on the Gold Coast last Sunday noticed those 777 double deckers running up and down from Broad Beach South to Gold Coast Airport. Noticing  few South bound services and one Northbound there were  only 2-5 people per bus. Those double deckers  not very successful to date. Anyone viewed the loadings on the 777 since implemented with Double Deckers?

DayboroStation

At Albion Station around 5:15pm yesterday I noticed a train full of passengers getting off a train (platform 2) which had Ferny Grove as the destination. Train then ran empty northbound (passed my train at Toombul). Passengers told to catch the next city-bound train on platform 3 at Albion. Any ideas what happened here?

Mozz

Heard on 612 ABC Brisbane Radio that it was due to a police incident on the ferny grove line which meant the train was diverted to albion... lots to be said for poor communication if people on the train didn't know what was happening.....
