And (at least one one occasion), a train...

What on earth would someone do with a stolen train???  ???

He was a certain young person, who was also known for having made off with a tram.

Joyriding basically.

There are some interesting letters to the editor in today's Courier-Mail, on public transport issues.

ICE sets appear to be back on the 5:40pm (from Roma Street) Gympie North service this arvo after a short break.

Also, departure durations ie "Dep in 3 mins" are now also being shown on PID's in the pedestrian subway under Central station (apologies if this has already been reported).

Now that we know what station we are at (the new station signs being rolled out), time we knew the time.

The clocks at Ipswich rail station irritate me.  Either fix them, or remove them please.  Yes we know that in some respects the 'smart' state is behind time but this is a killer ..  :P

The time when these photographs were taken was 3.05pm

I received a response that this would be followed up on September 4.

Have raised it again ... response

Has anyone else noticed that the LCD PID screens at Central, etc no longer seem to 'flash' trains that are currently at the platform?
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

How annoying.  So almost as soon as they fix the time they remove the clocks.

Cam

The 3 car express service that I caught this morning from Indooroopilly, did not stop at Milton. All services are scheduled to stop at Milton since the timetable was introduced about 9 months ago. When the train arrived at Roma St, there was the usual announcement with no apology for those who had wanted to alight at Milton.

BTW, I didn't want to alight at Milton but there are usually a handful of people that do.

I think when the clocks were fixed they kept stopping, so they finally removed them.

Stuck past Elimbah because of signal issues. This train is really really hot. Been stuck around 10mins so far.

Moving now, yay.

Do you have the ICE (this train is normally scheduled on this shuttle) or a subbed MU this afternoon?

I have no idea on different train chasis
It was the 3:23 Cab - Nambour shuttle I was on
Took me 3 1/2 hours to get from UQ St Lucia to the main street of Caloundra  :thsdo

I personally would've waited until the 3:30pm Nambour service from Roma Street if I were in your situation.

But if you had to be in Caloundra by 5pm, then yea that's a screwed situation.  :thsdo

Mr X

I was originally going to take the 1:04 train from Central because I had a lecture ending at 12 and an optional tutorial ending at 1, but I got delayed because we had a group meeting for an assignment so I didn't leave UQ until 1. I took the 29 (quite well loaded) to Boggo Rd then a Doomben bound train to Central and waited for around 45mins and took that time to have some lunch. Got onto the Caboolture train at 2:07 and arrived at Caboolture after 3 I think (checked the timetable, it was 3:15), having stopped at every single station on the way (sigh!).  Swapped platforms to the Nambour train and arrived to Landsborough late (10min delay from signal issue) but luckily the rail bus 605 had waited for us ( :-t) and had a pretty speedy trip into Caloundra, arriving shortly after 4:30pm.

It's a wonder why people bother to take the train? I could have taken a car and been there in less than half the time.

I can't help but make comparisons to the Gold Coast line. Could you imagine if we made GC bound pax take an all stopper Beenleigh train and then take a rail bus or train to their station? :thsdo

I have. I think all LCD PIDs now do that, because the ones at Roma St, Oxley and Darra also don't flash anymore. Tis a shame. Perhaps part of their Zero Harm policy? (I do tend to run to the train if I see it flashing on the concourse PIDs...)

Feedback received, thanks.

QuoteI was on the 5.03pm Roma St to Richlands Train today  March 6

We got to Corinda where the Driver became ill.

The Guard gave us updates off what was happening, and the Station staff were announcing that the next train to Richlands would depart from Platform 3 in a few minutes.

Control had a red light for this train . All people transferred from the 1st train to the latter one and left only a few minutes late off Corinda.

Credit must be given to Qld Rail for this one.

Good communication is the key to customer service, especially when delays occur.
It's so simple yet effective and QR on the whole are very good at it the majority of times.

For all the rubbish that gets heaped on QR about disruptions, I would not want to be anywhere else in the country when something goes wrong - and yes, that includes Perth!

No where as bad as this.  Just left Goodna inbound SMU245, traffic is piled up to Gailes so far ... beautiful sight really, traffic gridlock that will become commonplace unless sanity prevails ..  just starting to clear here now.  It is normal to pack up at Gailes outbound in peaks, counter peak is not common.  The crash at Riverview obviously the cause.

Another observation, from Graceville to Goodna, every station is over-parked out.  This cannot continue, better additional options (eg. more feeder buses/station buses)  must be established.  The transport collapse has begun ...

Yep, had enough time for a wee break ..  unit failed at CAB, I asked the guard and he explained the situation, pity the PIDs were yards behind ...  now onboard my VERY favourite train, an EMU!  16 ...

It has been a lovely day, country air, fine rail, and a good lunch!
