Major closure over Easter --> http://translink.com.au/travel-information/service-notices/381/details

Not clear at the moment if trains resume on the 21st April  conflicting information,  hopefully this will be clarified.  They need to pay attention to detail, things are getting worse and worse with TransLink et al.  Mediocrity is becoming the rule ..

QuoteLast updated: 4.07pm Wednesday 2 April 2014

From 10pm on Saturday 19 April until the last service on Monday 21 April, tracks will be closed from Roma Street to Corinda and South Brisbane stations.

Be sure to plan your journey in advance and allow for extra travel time (approximately 60 minutes) due to track works.

Trains will be affected from approximately 9.30pm on Saturday 19 April and will return to normal from the first service on Monday 21 April.

also a different approach with this closure from 14th April  Petri to Caboolture --> http://translink.com.au/travel-information/service-notices/9601/details

There are too many closures on the SEQ rail network.  Far too many --> http://translink.com.au/travel-information/service-notices

Next weekend for example closed Corinda  - Rosewood, weekend after that Easter Closure Corinda - Roma St.  People are getting very p%ssed  off with the constant closures, remember Ipswich line has had years of hyper closures.

Bob yes indeed I am one of the upset commuters, weekend before last got caught by the track closure on the Ipswich line when I went to lunch at the Racehorse at Bundamba, next weekend I get caught again by the closure on the Ipswich line as I am travelling to the CBD twice, once on Sat and again on Sunday - so factor in additional travel time of 15-60 minutes each way for rail bus and train connections.

Now I have to bloody well probably have to catch a freaking taxi in order to be able to travel to Melbourne on a flight leaving at 8am on Easter Monday because I don't trust the early morning bus replacement to get me to the airport in time... despite three times checking the journey planner and nothing mentioned for early morning travel on April the 21st.....Jetstar moved the flight 30 minutes earlier and asked if I was ok with it ... or just contact them to discuss options... so I checked and double checked the journey planner.. nah all good - just catch the 5.40am from Oxley to Central and change so get out to the airport in plenty of time .... but bam ... track closure... again and again... well you get the point....

ozbob

Yes, I am flying to Melbourne my self on April 21, at 9am. I will probably have to get a lift to at least Roma St to make sure of getting there in time.

Lots of folks travel at Easter.  I seem to recall it is the busiest time of the year for many airports.  Will be a total clusterfu%k for most ..

James

I also am going away over the Easter break to the Gold Coast. Leaving Friday, was originally going to return Monday, but with the hourly bus service to contend with and now this, I think I will just extend my stay and come back on Tuesday. Thank you QR for extending my holiday, at least there are some winners from track closures! :-r
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

ozbob

Some feedback received, thanks ..

QuoteThere is no problem keeping fares down on the Ipswich line. The first thing in planning a weekend trip to Brisbane is to check if the tracks are available. This weekend 12-13 April offers more inconvenience and is a month after the St.Patrick's Day weekend track closures.
Whoever is responsible for track maintenance should seriously consider his position and if he is capable of doing it to a more satisfactory level If this cannot be guaranteed then give the position to someone who can.
Thankyou for the opportunity to voice my opinion but the situation is getting worse each year.

The Ferny Grove Line closure this weekend is very annoying as the A-League Grand Final is on Sunday (which has already sold out the 52,000 Suncorp Stadium).

QR have previously cancelled/re-scheduled weekend engineering for rugby and cricket, but not proper football!

The Ferny Grove Line closure is still going ahead despite a sell out at Suncorp Stadium. Lets hope QR/Translink put on extra replacement buses on Sunday afternoon/evening. Bet they don't. No extra BCC 390s or 345s either.

The next time they refuse to move a closure when in conflicts with the Ipswich show, car races, horse races or whatever, we can remind of the 2015 election campaign!   :bg:

Not sure if this has been posted before but it could be useful. Would be better if they linked to the actual Translink bus stop seeing as while some are temporary bus stops, a majority are existing bus stops/interchanges outside the station.

Would also be good if they then actually put in the rail buses on the Journey Planner!

Following response received from QR:

QuoteThank you for taking the time to provide feedback on messaging regarding service impacts due to maintenance works.

Following your feedback, we've spoken internally with the team which manage network closures and will be looking to improve our messaging moving forward. We appreciate your suggestion to use a template along the following lines of "trains services will be progressively replaced by buses from X:XXpm" and agree that this is a clearer form of messaging for our customers. We will look to use a similar template where possible in the future.

Thanks again for taking the time to provide feedback, and please feel free to contact me direct should you have any further suggestions regarding our customer communications in the future.

Track closure inbound from Corinda today, and previously only Springfield -> Bowen Hills trains displayed as Corinda on the PIDs, while Caboolture trains still displayed as Caboolture. Today that wasn't the case thankfully, they all displayed as Corinda, good to see progress. Although there was one Springfield bound service displaying as heading towards the city.

I personally usually put up the normal (City, at least) destination until the station before the closure, so that people who don't know tge system know to get on and not wait for a train actually going to the City

Queensland Times --> Madden, Pisasale furious over track closures on Jets' final

Quote

IPSWICH Mayor Paul Pisasale and Member for Ipswich West Jim Madden were yesterday trying to convince Translink to delay track work and prevent rail line closures on the same day as the Intrust Super Cup grand final.

The Ipswich Jets will be chasing their first grand final win against the Townville Blackhawks at Lang Park this Sunday afternoon.

Thousands of Ipswich fans hoping for a convenient train ride to Milton could have been in for a shock, however, with information on Translink's website indicating that track and overhead maintenance work is scheduled between Redbank and Rosewood stations from 1am-5pm this Sunday.

Mr Madden and Mr Pisasale both expressed their dismay at the Translink scheduling, which has clashed with other major weekend events in past years.

Mr Madden said he couldn't believe Translink had planned the closures for the same day as the final, and that he immediately contacted Transport Minister Jackie Trad and Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk in an attempt to have the maintenance work delayed.

He was expecting a reply late yesterday afternoon.

"This is something where we've got to sit down with QR at the start of the year," he said.

Queensland Times  --> Extra buses for city's Jets supporters

Quote

IPSWICH Jets fans heading to Sunday's Intrust Super Cup grand final at Suncorp Stadium will be able to travel to the game for free with their game day ticket, with dedicated shuttle buses and trains provided for the event.

Deputy Premier Jackie Trad instructed Translink to provide shuttle buses and additional trains after she was contacted by local members Jim Madden and Jennifer Howard concerned the scheduled track works from Rosewood to Redbank stations would leave sports fans stranded.

Ms Trad said trains would operate from 1.50pm to 2.50pm every 20 minutes from Redbank station.
