SEQ:  Network plan, fare strategy and reality

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has called for the new TransLink network plan four year program and the new fare strategy be made public.  According to the act a network plan is to be prepared every 4 years, and a fare strategy every 5 years or as directed (1)

Robert Dow, spokesperson for RAIL Back On Track said:

"The network plan 4 year program that is currently available on the web covers the period 2004?05 to 2007?08 (2)."

"It was indicated last April that TransLink would present its preferred fare options to the State Government for consideration by the middle of the year (3)."

"There is clearly an urgent need for more frequent public transport services and immediate improvement in the go card ticket system with fare innovation (4)."

"Public transport commuters have been very patient and now is the time for overdue action!"
