somebody

How do they deal with these things?

Isn't there a need for a rapidly responding bus tow truck if a breaks down on the SE busway, especially the inner portion.

Suspicious package closes CBD busway

Suspicious package closes CBD busway

October 26, 2009 - 10:47AM

Police have closed the busway beneath Queen Street Mall after a suspicious package was left on a bus.

The busway was closed just after 10.30am when an "unaccompanied package" was discovered.

Police have refused to comment on the nature of the package.

Translink said CBD bus services have not been greatly effected by the closure, although buses that would normally leave from platforms A and C are now departing from Stop 48 on Adelaide Street. Services that would usually leave from platform B have been diverted to Elizabeth Street.

"Busway safety officers are at the scene directing passengers," a Translink spokeswoman said.

Police are at the scene to investigate the incident.

Unaccompanied toolbox closes CBD busway

MARISSA CALLIGEROS
October 26, 2009 - 11:24AM

Police have called off the emergency closure of a CBD busway this morning after a suspicious package on a bus was found to be a harmless toolbox.

The busway beneath Queen Street Mall was closed just after 10.30am after an "unaccompanied package" was reported on a 150 city bus. It had been out of service at the time.

The busway was evacuated and taped off while police examined the package.

Just after 11am, police confirmed the package was a toolbox and ordered the busway be reopened.

Passengers waiting on stairwells, earlier ordered out by flashing signs, were allowed back in.

A police spokeswoman was unable to say who found the toolbox.

"It just appears to have been left there.

"Police inspected the package and found it was a toolbox."

Translink said CBD bus services have not been greatly effected by the temporary closure.

Drivers ordered back to work

QuoteDrivers ordered back to work
CAMERON ATFIELD
December 9, 2009 - 5:02PM

Bus drivers at Brisbane City Council's Toowong depot who walked off the job today over the treatment of a bus driver based at the inner-west facility have been ordered back to work.

A Brisbane City Council spokesman said the Federal Industrial Relations Commission deemed the action "illegal" and directed the union to get drivers back on the road immediately.

The action caused major delays on bus routes in Brisbane's western suburbs.

It is understood the union action was on behalf of a driver who appeared in a Channel Nine report on Monday, in which a child's foot was caught in the door of a bus.

The driver subsequently clashed with the news crew.

Council's Public Transport Chair Jane Prentice told Fairfax Radio 4BC the driver had "lost it" and acted inappropriately and aggressively.

"The depot manager asked (the driver) to be interviewed about it and said that we would be standing him down pending an interview ... he refused to be interviewed," she said.

"It isn't the sort of behaviour we want to see in our bus drivers."

Cr Prentice said the driver was a casual and had resigned in the wake of the incident.

A council spokesman said the driver had since sought to be re-employed and also received lost wages.

An up-to-date list of affected services is available at the TransLink website.

Comment is being sought the Rail, Bus and Tram Union.

Got me beat why 170 and 222 are mentioned.. Toowong drivers don't do those... Also, As well as 598, the 599 would be affected.. The Circle routes are shared between Carina and Toowong so some 598's and 599's will be running.. Carina also do 105, 107, 108 as well as Toowong.
