that one route is contributing heavily to the bad o.t.r for the western region.
All you have to do is sit at Goodna and note how many of them arrive into the station late.....specifically on school hols, public holidays and sundays...

ozbob

Yo! Joke, touted as a feeder to rail when in fact it's a scenic tour between Goodna and Springfield Central, usually independent of timetable and connections  :fp:

Yep. I am also somewhat perplexed as to the 'heavy passenger loading'  ???

For heavy passenger loading read:

- Bus route trying to do far too much
- Bus route does not run frequently enough
- Inappropriately designed buses which magnify dwell times are deployed

Useless farts in 61 Mary Street and their even more useless bosses around the block.  Nobody wants to fix any of this.

Meanwhile my favourite 310 arrives at RBWH 7 mins early because of a "fat timetable" and sits there hogging spots, slowing other buses trying
to exit. This even after the Bowen Bridge busway entrance has been closed.

I was wondering if heavy passenger load meant that it was being slowed down by slow passengers, or if it was just general speak for "it got delayed on its last run"

Time to BUZ the 522!  :bna:

Time to BUZ the 522!  :bna:

Like many parts of SEQ, the bus network is crying out for proper reform.  Springfield (and Western generally) has still got its disconnected low frequency bus network that is years behind.  Springfield has a grossly inadequate feeder bus network, the same mediocre network that was rolled in 2013 by TransLink under instructions to provide a basic minimal network when the railway opened.  It is little wonder that parking is a big issue now. The 522 is touted as a feeder! FMD!!

This is a rather confusing tweet. Of what relevance is the departure time of the next bus when the delayed one is still leaving well before the next one is due to depart?

The 11.33am route 534 outbound bus is delayed 30 minutes due to driver error.
(not heard this one before)
better than "an operational" I guess.

techblitz

Yep good to see they are getting more technical although I'm not liking this 'heavy passenger loading' that seems to be popular for both bus and rail.
You really do have to question some of these..

eg yesterday Route 502 at 9.48 in the morning....even with the previous outbound service leaving riverlink 9.12....how can there be heavy passenger loading at these times?

So when a Metro vehicle breaks down, instead they'll all grind to a halt as they won't be able to be diverted?

brissypete

At 7:50 there was an apparently broken LCBS artic on the inbound platform, it was in the platform side lane approx middle of platform with hazard lights on. Buses were stopping in front and behind it but things seemed to be moving reasonably. If the same bus perhaps it got going and then broke in a worse spot.

42 minutes delay due to heavy passenger loading? Something doesn't smell right here.

STB

Doesn't seem to be reported yet, but there are delays of up to 40mins to the 555 due to a crash on the M1 at Springwood.

So the 2.11 ex pines 765 arrived into varsity 10 mins late when train was leaving so I'm stuck here for an exact 30 mins.
Plenty of time for a post
Asked driver why he was running 10 late and he said they seem to be running around 10 mins late all day. :o
He was right.....the very next 765 turned up 9 mins late....
Seriously?......there is a 10 minute connection gap.....and even though they have kindly bumped this route up to 15 minutes.....who is going to use it if it consistently turns up late to the rail station due to being held up on the highway??
It simply isn't going to work for the new and improved 765 if it is turning up late....well out of peak on a tueday of all days.....turning up at the station just as 30 minute trains are leaving.

SurfRail

"Peak" has no meaning here.  Rookie mistake.  7am to 7pm is basically comparable all day long, the only noticeable pattern is slightly more people headed north in the morning and south in the afternoon.

You can play with timings all you want, the reality is there are too many stops on the Gold Coast Highway and that won't change dramatically until light rail gets extended further south.
