Bus delays, cancellations ...

The reported delays and no shows for bus are not accurate.  Rail is a lot better, not 100% perfect but close.

all the airportlink routes delayed 20+ mins. (310,330etc)
Yesterday it was all the non-busway services delayed.
Light drizzle in the city (Translink would call it severe weather)

SurfRail

It was dumping down bigtime around midday, definitely a lot quieter in the last few hours.

Well the 330 and 310 that I observed yesterday were running very late.
310 outbound running 16 minutes late...which I  observed from a 22 minute late inbound 330 which was stuck almost 10 minutes waiting to turn right.
Bunching also occurred as a result.
Big issues with counterpeak buses coming from airport link turning into RBWH trying to counter the gympie rd outbound traffic....
Drivers doing outbound peak return runs are losing break times with those types of delays....frustrating them in the process.

I realise I'm a bit late, but noted on Twitter there were a few odd cancellations of BT bus services this morning:

https://twitter.com/TransLinkSEQ/status/990702076601782273

https://twitter.com/TransLinkSEQ/status/990707498624671746

Looks like BT has caught QR's "operational issue" disease.

150 to Browns Plains (W5081) had a blowout along SE Busway between Greenslopes and Holland Park West at 8:15pm. (Was sitting opposite wheel where it occured)

Passengers let down at Holland Park West, likely to be further delays for southbound services

QuoteStanding waiting for the 151 at stop 50, it's only 18 mins late........the app has said its coming in 4 mins for the last 22 mins! Sort it out translink! Iv lost 45 mins of my day today waiting for your services !!!!

QuoteThe 153 going inbound from stop 35 is CONSTANTLY late! At least 10 mins. And the 151 outbound from stop 50 on Mary street. It was over 30 mins late tonight. That is just a joke!

QuoteHi ***. I have checked our tracking for the P151 that left Mary St at 6.04 and can see that the service was 17 mins late. Also, for the 153 that he 6.48 service was scheduled for 6.47 and left late by 12 mins. If you like I can forward this information on to find out why both these services were late if you can please provide your contact detail via PM to lodge a case? - ***

QuoteTranslink, every single day, without fail, your P384 bus is late by well over 20 minutes. Right now, the 5:08pm service still has not arrived; neither has the 5:25pm. This is particularly inconvenient for me as I have a child that I need to collect prior to 6:00pm before i start to incur additional daycare fees which are charged per the minute. Will you be reimbursing me of these expenses, or the UBER expenses I have no choice but to incur when your buses just don't turn up? You purport to "...operate with a 'customers first' focus... [your] primary vision is to connect Queensland - delivering passenger transport for prosperity." And yet, here I am, still waiting for the 5:08 service at 5:41pm! So thanks very much for that. What a bloody waste of tax payers money! There are third world countries with better transportation networks than Queenslands. Neil Scales you ought to be sacked!!

107 to Yeronga from cultural centre 20 minutes late. Well done Translink. And when did it become the 107 Orlando Road service?
According to the timetable the bus should have been at the cultural centre at 5:16. I seriously doubt there will be an answer to the 107 Yeronga/107 Orlando Road enquiry. Neither the drivers nor the "information officers" at the cultural centre stop are even aware of the name discrepancy. The poor service provided for Yeronga is far more if an issue. Buses that regularly arrive late, do not arrive at all or even drive straight through are far more of a concern. As is the drivers habits of driving around parked busses to get to an empty bay. I do understand that it is the orocedure to go further down the busway, but to do so to the detriment of paasengers who cannot see the bus arrive is ludicrous. As is the way the electronic nituceboard changing from arr. to dep. before the bus even arrives.

Today personally....I caught 2 * 100 o/b, 1 * 115 I/b, 1* 110 I/b all ran 10+ mins late bar the 115 which I caught at 333pm.
The rest were caught 4pm onwards.
Gave me ample time to listen to some bus control calls. There were warnings to bus drivers of heavy congestion @ greenslopes, bowen hills, blunder rd Oxley, coro drive. Also 2 priority calls went out to find drivers for a 450 o/b and 431 o/b

BT/BCC bus reliability is going backwards at an alarming rate.....reform is needed pronto!

The issue is real time isn't based off real-time traffic, just extrapolating the timetabled data - which is out by a long shot.

Big issue with 4XX buses at the moment coming down from Wharf St and turning on to Adelaide St. Because of congestion and other traffic, only one bus (two at best) can get through per light cycle change. When you have five buses all leaving around the same time, it takes a very long time for the bus to get down the hill. That's on top of the normal Coronation Drive mess... a serious rethink is needed of how the network operates in the city, because it's clear the temporary changes implemented due to Queens' Wharf are not working well.

Cascading delays are a big problem network-wide too... try travelling in either direction through the Cultural Centre at 6pm on a weekday. Simulate all you like, but they need to get some traffic engineers out on the road to check it out first hand and come up with some solutions.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

Accident at Wardell St and Frasers Rd in Ashgrove. Could be a bus involved. Traffic northbound queuing quickly. Avoid Ashgrove, Waterworks Rd outbound and Jubilee Tce northbound, could be a mess this avro

Delays: Coronation Drive

There are delays of up to 20 minutes expected for buses travelling outbound.

Have spotted on the TransLink real time the 5:30pm 411 service only departing Wickham St stop 158 (the start) at about 6:35pm... one hour late :fp: The cause was an earlier nose-to-tail on the M3 outbound at Greenslopes causing congestion right back to Coro Drive inbound.

^ This has been happening since time immemorial.

Perfectly good 4-track railway line parallel to this that could channel western suburb buses. Nevermind!

New bridge on the Centenary motorway won't have bus priority either "because there are no plans for that".

I have a nice little example of how TransLink fudge the timetables to make it look like services are running on-time. The 6:33pm outbound Route 230 departed Valley Island on-time at 6:33pm, due to arrive at the Cultural Centre at 6:41. However, because of the traffic, showed up 10 mins late at 6:51. It was due to arrive at Apollo Rd at 7:22.

Even though we were 12 mins late at Oxford St (6 stops before the terminus), we still showed up 2 mins early at Apollo Rd (7:20pm). https://jp.translink.com.au/plan-your-journey/timetables/bus/t/230/outbound?pageDirection=After&pageTo=1800

Why does anybody catch a bus along Coro Drive unless they need to go there?  Just get the train to Toowong or Indro.

isn't the general status quo 'higher frequency is more attractive'?
on a Friday 4pm - 6pm  your looking at 8 trains vs 33 buses to toowong or 8 vs 55 to Auchenflower...
Id say that's one of the reasons why many are busing it from the cbd.....regardless of the time savings by rail..

Not it the bus is express into a 1.5 hour traffic jam.

60 minutes / 8 trains per hour = train every 7.5 minutes. This is approaching metro style frequencies and comparable to the Gold Coast Light Rail frequency that buses feed into.

A real masterstroke of bumbling that the renovation of Indooroopilly station did not contain a bus interchange. Then
transport minister Scott Emerson also did not want to feederise western suburb bus routes because it just so happened to be his electorate.

A peak hour T3 or bus lane would be sufficient. Coronation Drive is a high profile road so as usual, the politics of grandstanding take precedence. We have the Legacy Way tunnel now so there really is no excuse.

that aint 8 trains per hour to toowong its actually 8 trains in total between 4 - 6pm on Fridays.
We need to get it up to 8 trains per hour across all weekdays.
The real irritating humdinger here is on Fridays your dealing with Suncorp stadium on the Ipswich line.
These differentials needs to be addressed asap

Because there's no point catching the train when you're trying to connect to a bus which is delayed on an inbound Coronation Drive run, and because services come from all over Brisbane, while your 5pm service may be on-time, your 5:20pm may be 15 minutes late. The train also misconnects with bus services, meaning it is not a good option on the days where everything is operating as normal - I also haven't touched on #RailFail which has shot people's faith in the rail network.

Outbound there are rarely issues on Coro Drive, inbound in the PM peak is worse than AM in peak hour because congestion around Greenslopes just flows all the way back to North Quay in the PM peak.

This would no longer be an issue if ALL the buses aside from the 412/444 were feederised. The best way to stop the delays is to simply have many fewer buses running along Coronation Drive. End of story.
