^ key word was generally ...   :P  Obviously BT have some low frequency routes  but they are better able to cope with issues simply due to the larger number of buses etc. at their disposal say compared to some other operators.

There might be a riot if a 314 was cancelled hey?   :steam: :P

I guess one additional comment I'd like to make re: BT, is most of the cancellations tend to occur in peak and are due to traffic. Fact of life, the fact a lot of services are running more frequently anyway means there isn't too much to cry over - it just leads to a very full next service.

The "operational issue" cancellations tend to be spread across a variety of routes of various frequencies in BT, meaning no route/service in particular suffers cancellations almost every week. The 524 on the other hand, it seems like a service is getting cancelled at least once or twice every week...

I think I might have to start a ' 524 love bus support group '  ...   :bu :-*

It is so traumatic being left waiting at Curnow or where ever.  Isolated, no where to turn ..

Call 999-524 for a chat, whilst whiling away the hours ... waiting for the mighty 524!!

Not much point in calling TransLink or the local MP ...   :frs:

Wow. A 2-hourly bus being cancelled. Surely they could've gotten something to replace it before 2 hours was up, especially on a Sunday when fleet utilisation of pretty low.

yesterday ::)
a quick post on route 463.....it seems to run late(5-8mins usually) quite a bit during the peaks due to the wait at traffic lights at the wacol station rd intersection....6 minutes stuck waiting for a green light is the worst ive seen so far.....counterpeak/peak rail movements and extra vehicle traffic creating the double whammy.....

gotta love this TL response on the westside cancellations
QuoteHey ***, there have been a couple disruptions on the buses in Westside recently.

so define recently....westside delays this week thus far:(translink notices)

today: 509 7.55am (operational issue)
10th dec 522 335pm inbound((mechanical issue)
10th dec 522 240pm outbound(mechanical issue)
9th dec 509 226pm outbound (mechanical issue)
8th dec 524 345pm inbound (mechanical issue)
8th dec 524 325pm outbound (mechanical issue)
8th dec 502 336pm outbound (operational issue)
8th dec 500 2.38pm inbound (operational issue)

yet virtually all other private operators have never had more than 1 or 2...most have had zero......

a facebook poster has called these issues out with thier own analysis
Quotei think a lot of it comes down to maintenance, but mechanics have their hands tied as the company them selves won't approve funds as it exceeds budgets to get repairs done on vehicles, so the mechanics have to think outside of the box and strip parts from other vehicles to repair the original vehicle.

Western region bus no shows - chronic issue

Greetings,

There seems to be an increasing issue with bus reliability in the western region (Ipswich area).

This morning multiple bus service cancellations in the 500 bus group.

See > https://twitter.com/TransLinkSEQ

It has been getting worse for the past few months.

In the absence of public data for bus on time performance and reliability we are at the mercy of TransLink social media notifications and our own observations to understand the exact nature of the problem.

Can the Minister for Transport please conduct an investigation as to why bus reliability is so poor in the western region please?

Problems with these buses not showing up has a very significant adverse impact on the community.  The bus service frequency is very poor on most routes in the western region (exception 515), and cancellations can mean long waits for the next service and missed connections.

Thank you.

Best wishes
Robert

indeed ozbob....
i would say they might need to train their drivers in the art of basic bus mechanics/repairs...but then again 8)
but seriously...they are racking up a years worth of cancellations in just a week than what other privates would have in a year...

westside vs BT this week so far(twitter feed)

BT 16 cancellations ( mechanical,operational,heavy traffic)
westside 13 cancellations ( mechanical,operational)

obviously the number of routes each operator actually runs makes it concerning.....very concerning....

ozbob

BT is actually more than what is reported by TransLink is my understanding from informed sources.

In any case, it is a major basket case and needs resolving.  I am getting very annoyed with the way people are left stranded, constantly.

Ramshackle bus network - getting worse - State hides OTP data

Good Morning,

The ramshackle bus network continues to limp along.  A few Brisbane Nightlink services were cancelled overnight, no doubt marooning potential passengers.  Who cares hey?

Has it ever occurred to the great minds out there why there is no public reporting of bus OTP and service reliability in South East Queensland?  Because they are hiding failure.  There is in other states but not Queensland.

For example Adelaide Metro > https://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/About-us/Performance-Standards

It is an embarrassment and a cover up to be hiding the bus data.  The first steps in sorting out the festering mess would be to come clean with the reality there are issues, and set about sorting out the failed Brisbane bus network. Hiding the problems is just compounding into a political time-bomb.

We have shown how to do reform >  Brisbane - Bus network proposal - http://railbotforum.org/mbs/index.php?topic=11047.0

It is time the State Government showed some political courage and gave TransLink the authority and the resources to get cracking with reform.

Enough of drip feed policy and ' do nothing ' government.

The public is turning.

We have missed the bus long enough.

Best wishes

This was the bus I was trying to catch last night... then the following one ran 10 minutes late, meaning a 40 minute total wait. Caught up time on the trip home though, Uni holidays mean the bus was quite empty. The N413, since changing from the N412, seems to have reliability issues. I can say from catching the service sporadically throughout the year that by 3am, the bus is generally running at least 5 minutes late, and this tends to get worse as the night goes on.

In the end, can't complain though. Thanks to the extra bus services over the silly season, buses to the CBD along the 411 corridor (Hawken Drive) are actually more frequent at 4am on a Sunday morning than they are at 8pm on a Saturday night or 3pm on a Sunday. :-w

Conga line about 20 buses queuing at Melbourne St portal inbound. Outbound back across most of the Victoria bridge.

Real time is useless, all outbound services are a minute or two away but it doesn't factor their actual speed due to congestion.

Would have caught train but next service was cancelled, should have tried the next in hindsight.

Who would bother to take a bus on Coro Dr?

QR/State Gov't really stuffed up the opportunity to do a proper interchange and Indro when it was rebuilt a couple of years back; run more buses into there and people can change to trains taking 10 - 14 minutes to the city.
