Outbound 321, 325, 330, 335 ?????

My thoughts exactly. 124/125 are by far the goofiest in that list though.

Confused as to why the 412 is included, yet the 411/433 weren't included - they follow the exact same routing Adelaide Street - Toowong (so do the 415, 416, 417 and the 445 but they've all stopped running so it doesn't matter :bg:).

The 444, 470 and 475 are the only actual western suburbs bus routes which travel past Suncorp, yet none of them are included. Oh well, can't blame them, so far I haven't seen a single person get the bus spaghetti along Coro Drive correct.

Bus spaghetti, bus spaghetti
Bus spaghetti, bus spaghetti
Bus spaghetti, bus spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti, spaghetti!

Whooo, wiggy wiggy wiggy
Whooo, wiggy wiggy wiggy
gimme that, gimme that, gimme that, direct trip to the CBD on hourly frequency!

Whooo, wiggy wiggy wiggy
Whooo, wiggy wiggy wiggy
gimme that, gimme that direct trip!

Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

Pretty sure there were some crossed wires in that announcement RE: delays on Tuesday. I'm sure there were some delays due to Suncorp, but there were also delays due to an accident on the Story Bridge. It took me 10 minutes on the Blue Cityglider to travel from Commercial Rd near Leopold St, stop 12 to Ann St at James Street, stop 6 (which is timetabled as 1 minute, because it's all of 413m away) before I hopped off and walked to FV train station.

I also overheard on the bus radio before I got off that there was a bus stopped at one of the Cultural Center busway platforms (I think they said southbound one) because of a passenger having a medical incident, which I'm sure didn't help the usual CC congestion.
There is no silver bullet... but there is silver buckshot.
Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

James

No traffic on the roads according to the 10 News Traffic Helicopter, but BCC bus conga line running right through QSBS and along the Victoria Bridge northbound, causing massive delays.

All due to one broken down bus. :fp: Wheeeeeeeeeeeee........ Merry Christmas Brisbanites! Enjoy your bus cost explosion and rate rise! :bg:

Yes, take the train! Got off the train at 4:35pm (running within 2 minutes of timetable) to connect to a horseless carriage home... Now stuck in traffic on Moggill Road! My good old feet would be almost home now...

No doubt the 400 series network is in a bit of a meltdown... Thank god it's holidays still!

undefined is when it is applied to all routes.

Hence why some like the 450 appear.

Who was in the bus? The transport minister? Must have been given that it is listed as taking down the ENTIRE Gold Coast system as well... all from a prang on Wharf st eh??

Auto announcements like this should ideally be phased out. People might think the entire city transport network has collapsed when it hasn't.

Hopefully the 314 wasn't delayed too badly.

The ' disruption ' to the 524 wasn't too traumatic thankfully ..   :P

seriously, it is time they got this sorted.  It might actually confuse the infrequent traveller  ..  most of the regulars would probably deduce it is a furphy ..

Hopefully the 623 wasn't delayed too badly either, that's assuming it turns up..

Oh wait.. what? they cancelled it a few years ago?  Blast!  :fp:

There has got to be a more logical way of tagging routes affected by disruptions.

Don't you like the Ctrl+A option of selecting routes?  ;D

James

Look at all those delayed NightLink routes! These delays must be expected to extend on to the early hours of Saturday and Sunday morning! :-r

I could maybe accept listing all CURRENT BCC bus routes (for goodness sake, no need to list the P461 when its last run was Friday morning on October 11 2013), but no, they just had to go ahead and list every single route - even the Elanora local routes and the ones which go between Noosa and Nambour/Cooroy!

Logic? In Brisbane?

:bna:
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

ozbob

I have been quietly reflecting ....  I had this thought that even if you set about establishing the worst public transport network you could design, it would probably be better than this present network that has evolved in Brisbane, 'world class' and all ...

Have received feedback that a lot of punters are reporting buses not stopping, either fulls or the driver just doesn't seem to see the hapless punter hailing the bus ...

The question is what is the most logical way of tagging the routes that are affected by a disruption. It really depends how far into the future you want to tag routes for disruption, and how deep you want to go with knock-on effects.

Probably the most obvious filter would be to tag the routes that are directly affected (i.e. go through that section of road within a certain time interval, e.g. next 5, 10, 15 minutes). This might be a bit naive though.

With these vehicles/drivers being delayed, they will be late for the next route that they will be driving (although for at least some of these vehicles and drivers, they may be reassigned to a later route, with backup vehicles and drivers taking over their original next route). You would need access to the operations system that the bus company is using to get this kind of information.

You may also want to consider the vehicles that don't go along the affected road, but are still affected by any congestion that has spilled out along neighbouring roads caused by the road being partially or fully blocked. This isn't a simple problem to solve, as it would require real-time information of the current traffic situation, plus prediction algorithms to estimate travel time along the congested roads.

I agree that Translink should be more precise with the list of affected routes when it comes to situations like this, but there is also the issue of missing out routes that may not necessarily be directly affected by the disruption, but are still delayed from knock-on effects.

Real-time tracking of buses would definitely help a lot in this regard though, both in generating the list, and also providing individualised information for users who are only interested in the list of routes that they will need to use to get to their destination.
