Milton Rd and Castlemaine St, Milton delays

Last updated: 4.56pm Wednesday 2 October 2013

Buses travelling outbound along Milton Road will experience delays of up to 10 minutes due to a traffic incident near Castlemaine Street, Milton.

Affected services:

    P461

I don't think that route exists any more TransLink...  :hg

They also forgot the 476. 450/N464 really aren't that applicable either.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

King George Square Busway Station update

King George Square Busway Station will be closed for the rest of the day (Tuesday 22 October) due to extensive water damage caused by a burst water pipe at 2am today.

Transport and Main Roads Minister Scott Emerson said passengers would need to plan their journeys accordingly.

"All passengers who usually travel from King George Square will need to use the Roma Street or Cultural Centre busway stations," Mr Emerson said.

"Route 196, 199 and City Glider buses travelling to the Cultural Centre will depart from Adelaide Street Stop 43 near City Hall, and when travelling to the city they will depart from Cultural Centre station platform 1, arriving at Adelaide Street.

"While passengers are not able to access King George Square we are able use the busway in both directions as a thoroughfare only.

"Queen Street and Roma Street busway stations are open and fully operational."

Engineers will work overnight and information about any further disruption will be provided to passengers before tomorrow morning's peak.

The water has impacted nearby sections of road and footpaths causing damage to internal lifts and escalators.

Motorists should also be aware that Roma Street (at the Station) to Ann Street is restricted to one lane.

No mention on the Translink website of the delays in Queen Street Bus Station. It took 5 minutes to exit the station from A4. Only a couple of buses getting through each light sequence until the sequence that we went through allowed 4 buses. Hundreds waiting in long queues inside. The station was clogged with buses - waiting to pick up passengers as well as those waiting to exit.

From the view from my office overlooking the riverside expressway, there looks like an incident in the last 15 mins or so that made the traffic come to a standstill for a while. It looks like a Bus was either involved in the accident, or was the primary witness to it, as they are stuck on the bridge with a police car behind them.

Not sure what effect this will have on bus services along the bridge, but traffic is backed up for quite a distance, by the looks of it.

Edit: This is inbound to the city. Looks like the bus has gone, but there is a silver car with some visible damage. I'm guessing the bus was not directly involved. Avoid taking the Captain Cook Bridge inbound to the city for at least the next 10-20 mins.

That was going on when I passed through there at 12:30pm today... didn't bother reporting it as I had to quickly run into Target at QSBS and then run to the 417, otherwise faced a wait of an hour or desperately trying to catch a 428 with its strange half-hourly gaps and non-clockface timetabling. Was already causing issues then.

Really has not been a good day for the SE Busway today!
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

Can someone explain to me why the SEB is reduced to single lane when Cricket or similar is on at W'Gabba? Why do this?

I guess it is a bit like closing the inner west and southern rail network on one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year.  It has to be done!  Maybe urgent repairs or something?

It doesn't 'have to be done' ozbob in most cases, it is because we live in Queensland and believe we should shut down infrastructure at critical times.

I will further extend on this and say that going by the number of full buses going to the Gabba, there should be some starting at the Cultural Centre and the ones at Adelaide St should simply run express via CCB to the Gabba. Not that difficult.
Is it really that hard to run frequent, reliable public transport?

I noticed missing panels on the tunnel sides ( with cables showing) between the affected stations.....buses were also going over some sort of bump as well ( felt like a pothole or cable)
Was hard to tell. Either way there were "go slow" signs from both directions.

They are testing and modifying the emergency fire hydrants along the northern busway. Not sure about the southern busway.

Radio report from Cr Matic suggested was in response to some action taken against a driver, which union et al.  did not agree with.

A return to work order was obtained from the Industrial Commission, and drivers have now returned to normal tasks.

Don't know if it was related, but Wednesday there was (according to the radio traffic report) a bus+car crash on the Western Freeway inbound approaching the Toowong roundabout. When I went through it took 25-30 minutes to get from Moggill Rd to the roundabouts with 1 lane blocked by the damaged car. The bus wasn't on site so I can't comment on what happened other than to say the front of the car was pretty bad and looked like a nose-tail. Industrial action could have been related to action against the bus driver perhaps?
