Thanks for these comments John.  Great to  see the trams are running through the City again.

I spent the last two weeks in Adelaide:

TRAINS

Twenty year old diesel sets have been having problems of doors opening
suddenly while the train is moving, or not closing at stations. So much so that
railway staff are travelling as safety officers on all peak period trains of the
model that is having problems.

TRAMS

Regular service started last weekend on the extension from Victoria Square to
North Terrace almost to West Terrace. Travel is free on all trams from South
Terrace northwards and in Glenelg. The cbd service is supplemented during the
day. Heritage tram services are also extended over the new section. Trams run
along the centre of the road, passengers alighting at tram stations built on the
median strip/garden. Originally there was opposition to the trams as they run
on what used to be the middle lane on each side which is now dedicated to
trams. The trams have resulted in much smoother traffic flow, particularly at
Adelaide Station where buses formally pulling out from the kerb had to cross 3
lanes of traffic over 40 - 50 metres to turn right into King William Street.
