You can find an interesting article in the Courier Mail here about seats on trains for people with larger than normal seating requirements.  :-r  Quite funny really . . wonder if QR will give it a go?  ;D

If obesity is a disability then it is only fair that appropriate seating is provided.

This post reminds me of a segment in Ricky Gervais Live, talking about obese people in seats. Funny stuff.

Whilst this may be funny, I don't see the need for fat seats.  There's no centre armrest on buses and trains so a fat person could simply sit across 2 seats.  The comments under the article are an example.  While we're on those comments, size isn't an acceptable excuse to stopping others from getting on and off.  A friend of mine sat next to a large person who wouldn't budge when my friend clearly needed to get off.

I have had a few people sit next to me like that. Actually, it is quite unpleasant when you are stuck in the wrong seat on the train and you don't want to cause a scene/drama by asking the person to move, or they invade your personal space. :-\

I think they should be allowed (but not forced) to sit in the reserved seats for pregnant women, disabled etc as well, without penalty. Keeps everyone happy. :-t
