Translink Network Plan still hidden

Congestion on the State's rail and buses will continue to get worse unless the State releases a Translink network plan that caters for growth.

The State Opposition has called on Minister Nolan to release the Translink Network Plan she has said is fully funded but has been left in draft form for the last year.

Minister Nolan has assured us repeatedly that the Plan has funding but has refused to release the final plan.

We know there are service providers who are complaining that they do not have contracts. Their contracts have in fact lapsed which is the case with Queensland Rail.

At the heart of this is the question about whether the Bligh Labor Government has truly funded the network plan to match growth.

I suspect the funding will not be sufficient to ensure that congestion is adequately dealt with on the roads and that people have an appropriate public transport system into the future.

Thus revelations that Queensland Rail will be fined for the second year in a row for late services indicates the system is struggling to keep up with current demand.
Half baked projects, have long term consequences ...
