South East Queensland:  New Transit Authority Welcome!

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org)  a web based community support group for rail has congratulated the Premier of Queensland and the Queensland Government for moving forwards with a plan to establish a new Transit authority to effectively act as a ?one stop shop? for public transport in south east Queensland.

Robert Dow said:

?Public transport in south east Queensland is poorly integrated.

?Already suffering from congestion issues and poor ticketing solutions, commuters often get poor or no responses from inquiries and feedback to Translink and other operators.

?There are clearly communication barriers between major transport operators and Translink.  Commuters are caught in the middle.  This compounds the lack of integration of services.

?RAIL Back On Track applauds efforts to set up a single authority to coordinate all aspects of public transport in south east Queensland.?

"Rail will be the public transport salvation for south east Queensland. By separating Queensland Rail's passenger services into a separate functional unit RAIL Back On Track believes this will accelerate service improvements which are already underway."
