Media Release 27 March 2009

SEQ:  Ipswich Railway Station is a no GO card station Minister!

RAIL Back On Track (http://backontrack.org) a web based community support group for rail and public transport and an advocate for public transport commuters has highlighted the fact that public transport commuters cannot purchase a GO card at Ipswich Railway Station.  Promises that the Go card would be available at Ipswich railway station when the station refurbishment was completed 5 months ago have not been met.

Robert Dow, Spokesman for RAIL Back On Track said:

"Why is it that commuters cannot obtain a Go card at the busy Ipswich Railway Station?  The nearest place where they can directly purchase a Go card is at the Booval Station, or journey out to Rosewood, or the 7-Eleven at Brassall." (1)

"This is not very convenient for Ipswich commuters.  Promises that the Go card would be made available at Ipswich railway station have not been realised, as delays are now attributed by TransLink to a lack of space in the ticket office.  This is odd because convenience stores don't have space issues on their counters."

"RAIL Back On Track hopes that the Honourable Member for Ipswich Ms Nolan, Minister for Transport, can assist in establishing Go card sales at Ipswich Railway station.  Local commuters are becoming upset with the excuses and delays."

Not related directly to Ipswich station and the go card, but another issue.

Feedback received, thanks.

QuoteBald Hills does not have an EFTPOS facility at the ticket window! How 1950's is that? I complained to both QR and Translink 2 years ago, who just blamed each other.
