DEVELOPING: BRISBANE commuters are facing massive disruptions on the CityRail network this morning due to electrical and track faults.

A TransLink spokesperson said an overhead line fault at one end of Mayne rail complex, where the trains are stored, has caused problems for trains exiting the yards.

QR crews are trying to fix the problem as quickly as possible.

"We thank customers for their patience," the spokesperson said.

Services on the Ipswich line were expected to resume at 7.30am after the track was closed between Milton and Corinda because of a fault.

Several other trains bound for Roma Street have also been cancelled, including ones from Shorncliffe, Petrie and Mitchelton.

Services on the Shorncliffe line are expected to resume at 8.25 and Petrie services should get back on track at 8.05am.

Meanwhile, an inbound 5.55am train departing Ipswich was also cancelled due to a track fault at Sherwood.

Repair crews are scrambling to fix an electricial fault which forced the cancellation of train services across Brisbane's rail network, sparking peak hour delays.

Commuters continue to face delays of up to 20 minutes after the fault at Bowen Hills stopped services on the Ipswich and Shorncliffe lines.

A TransLink spokesperson said an overhead line fault at one end of the Mayne rail complex, where the trains are stored, caused problems for trains leaving the yards.

Cancelled services include a Shorncliffe train departing Ipswich at 6.25am, a Bowen Hills train departing Ipswich at 7.05am, and Roma Street trains bound for Petrie and Shorncliffe at 7.58am and 8.04am respectively.

Translink said it was unknown how long the fault would take to repair.

"Until the fault is fixed, we do not know how it will affect afternoon services," the spokesperson said.

"We thank customers for their patience."

Meanwhile a seperate track fault at Sherwood cancelled an inbound service on the Ipswich line.
